[10/25] Ignis using 70 FR gear?

I haven't attempted this boss since someone in my raid decided it was "glitched" when I was first trying ulduar,someone kept saying that we needed it for that boss and I just wanted to know if I was dealing with a complete idiot or if the gear might actually be useful. But if the majority of the damage is physical then I won't even bother.
Not that I'm trying to insult the person I just haven't checked into the fight mechanics so I was hoping someone who knows the fight could save me the time

I haven't used any FR gear. Usually another pali's aura is more than enough, even that is just a bonus if you don't need other auras.

If you're handling adds, you'll take more fire damage than physical. They don't hit very hard, and scorch and the aoe they start spamming once they go molten will do a lot more damage to you than their melee attacks.

That said, my guild generally doesn't bother since we offtank adds in 10-man and just burn him down, and neither of the OTs we use in 25-man have FR gear. If you have some and you're on OT duty, it'll help. I definitely wouldn't use it if you're tanking Ignis himself.

In general, wearing fire resistance gear is unnecessary for Ignis. It can be helpful for OTs handling the adds and is probably a good idea if you have any on you. I just checked, and about 84% of the damage our OT (no FR except aura) took on our last Ignis kill was fire-based. I'd hardly call trying to mitigate that stupid.

I'd call it very stupid, since then if the MT dies and you taunt and take over on ignis you will take a LOT of damage and die due to lower HP.

The fire damage you take on add duty is not great enough to warrant the loss in flexibility.

But my point was correct: It is stupid. The OP's guildies were saying that they needed FR to do the fight. They don't.

Fire resist gear for the nerfed version is not needed at all. The scorch ticks for 2k on 25man, or close to it. It would take 20 seconds of standing there without a heal to die from it, add in a 5k melee from the add every 2s. 10 seconds of no heals to kill the offtank.
You do have healers that react faster than that? If the answer is yes, then you don't need fire res gear.

Ignis, pre-nerf was as hard as mimiron. Post nerf his equal to razorscale, even easier if the raid stops casting during jets.

We found it easier to tank Ignis next to the water so the scorch despawned and burned him as fast as possible while OTing the adds.

Or you get holy paladins do alternate Aura Mastery with Conc aura up.
