Ok, I've been able to get a few upgrades, and now I'm not sure what to buy next with my EoT. I'm saving up my EoF for the Cataclysmic Chestguard, but most of what I can get with EoT at this point seem to be minor upgrades.

I'm thinking of getting the T9 gloves for the 2-piece T9 bonus. Any other suggestions?

Personally, I would get the armor trinket next, and then start saving up EoT's to buy crusader orbs and get the saronite swordbreakers crafted, and then get the t9 gloves. The t9 gloves are a stop gap on the way to getting the kraken gloves.

Pick up some new shoulders today in a 25m pug (277 shoulders from gunship).... I am mostly limited to 10m's with the occasional 25 pug.

My problem is that I had the head and shoulders for 2 2pT10... 20% on my cleave is pretty nice. I'm now debating where to pick up the 2pT10 again. I have Kraken Gloves and Cat chest, so unlikely to swap those out. Obvious choice would be the legs, but again it'd be a downgrade from the ones Saurfang (I think) gave me. Any advice welcome. At the moment I've relegated the Tier shoulders to my threat set, and kept the Boneguard Commanders for my MT set, however if I could get the set bonus back I'd like to.

Can't seem to find the post "How to link items...."

<-- is jealous of your server if your getting 25heroic ICCpugs! im lucky to find `10reg pugs...

oh and all you do to link items is the basic ... , just inside the first brackets put =(the webadress here)] so for example you could have Head take out the spaces and you get Head

Hi everyone!

http://armorylite.com/us/terokkar/evilish
http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=terokkar&n=evilish

I really enjoy tanking and i am wondering, now that i have been farming some emblems of frost(52), which piece of equipement i should get next !

I am a casual player and don't think i'm gonna do many 10/25 man very often or ever. So it's probably not a good idea to get a piece Ilevel 251 and hope to upgrade it later on.

I thought of those 3 : Sentinel's winter cloak : http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=50466
Corroded skeleton key : http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xml?i=50356
(or wait a bit more to get those legs ? )
Lightworn legguards : http://www.wowarmory.com/item-info.xmli=50861

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I think a while back we had a discussion on this and the 'ideal' 2 piece set was Head/Shoulders but the same question came up and I think it was agreed back then that Head/Gloves was the next best option.

Things may have changed since then but for 10 man raiders that still looks valid to me.

Hope that helps.

Firstly apologies for the rather generic answer but I can't view your armory from work.

As detailed in the Frequently Asked Gearing Questions Sticky Thread [which I know you read before posting because all new members lurkers read that first right?] it lists the following information for us,

Your first EoF purchase should be either Cloak, Chest, Belt or Gloves.

The T10 legs should NOT be purchased as they drop in VoA unless you are desperate for a leg upgrade in which case you should first consider farming gold to purchase Pillars of Might.

If badges are hard to come by then get the biggest upgrade first from the first four upgrades I listed. Run VoA 10 and hope for lucky drops of T10 Gloves and Legs.

If gold isn't an issue then the 264 Crafted Boots and 264 Pillars of Might are massive upgrades, just watch your defence as they can cause issues.

:)

Hello everyone!
Recently started playing again after about a year-long break. I leveled my paladin, DK and shaman to 80 before i stopped, I even raided Ulduar a bit on my shaman, but due to RL problems I had to stop playing in August -09. Now I'm back and I want to progress a bit on my paladin, gear up and maybe restart my old guild.

This is my paladin as of today:
http://armorylite.com/eu/Thunderhorn/Barbossa
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... n=Barbossa

I wanna get gear enough so I could tank at least the first few bosses in ICC 10, so I can join PuGs if nothing else.
Will it be enough to get T9, Triumph gear and fill the rest with ICC 5 man stuff?
Basically, can I get to ICC 10 quality simply by grinding heroics or do I need gear from other raids first?

I used to MT for my own small guild back in TBC and I've tanked some Naxx 10 PuGs, so I know how to tank decently at least and I have a decent grasp of gearing, what I don't know is the quality of gear needed for ICC 10.

As a side note, could someone also take a look at my spec and give some advice on it, it used to be about right when I last played but stuff's changed since then, I'm not too sure what's considered the best spec these days so some advice on that would be nice.

Thanks in advance guys :)

I would check the failsafe gearing guides, and Dirgen's guides. Personally, I would try to get myself in the following gear:

Head: 245 Emblem of triumph head
Neck: H:HoR neck from the LK gauntlet
Shoulders: 245 Emblem of Triumph Shoulders
Cloak: Cloak from Normal HoR, or the EoV cloak
Chest: Breastplate of the white knight, crafted, probably pretty cheap
Bracers: Crafted Saronite Swordbreakers, probably pretty cheap
Hands: t9 gloves
Belt: Ulduar Crafted belt. Probably Pretty cheap
Legs: T9 Gloves
Feet: Crafted Ulduar Boots, or boots from H:FoS
Ring1: armor ring from Emelbem of Triumph
Ring2: Tank ring from H:ToC 5. no defense on it, but a great threat ring
Trinket1: Armor trinket from Emblems of Triumph
Trinket2: Black heart or one of your JC trinkets
Weapon: If you need the Defense, Rimefang's Claw. If not, the DPS mace from H:HOR
Shield: Normal HoR shield or what you have.
Libram: Emblem of Triumph Dodge Libram.

This set of gear will be very serviceable, and will get you into ICC, probably even into Upper spire wings. Keep in mind that in ICC armor + Stam are king. There are crafted legs and boots that are ilvl264. Most people will tell you that the legs are better than the boots. I say get what you can afford. Legs are better, but even on my realm they are still ~13k to get crafted.

For enchants and Gems, go stam where you can, follow Dirgen's Guide for gemming and enchanting, it is pretty good.

Thanks for the response Shoju!
I will check the guides out, will be good to update my knowledge a bit.
I can say right away that I probably will not be able to afford anything craftable, I simply cannot stand grinding money so I'm always pretty low on gold. Are there any bracers or belt good enough to get that can drop or be bought from emblems?

Well, I would say then that the bracers of dalaran parapets are badge available, but expensive at 60 emblems.

Your options on bracers are pretty limited. honestly, the 245 craftables are goinng to be the best bet unless you can get in an FL pug or ToC10 pug, and they can be had for less than 1k on most servers.

For chest, there is a 232 chest from H:PoS, and there is the t9 chest, as well as a chest piece from Anub in ToC10.

It's as I suspected then, thin pickings on up to date bracers outside of raids.
Anyway, thanks for the advice, I guess I'm gonna have to see about that FL pug :)

You should be matching your leg and belt socket colors. Agi/Sta gems in red sockets to pick up +9 stamina bonuses is a pretty good idea in my opinion.

Likewise, you should be using the health enchant to chest instead of defense. Keeping the def enchant while making other trades is inefficient.

As of right now you have 790 defense rating for 560 defense. You can lose 101 defense rating and remain at 540 defense. Because you use the resilience shoulder enchant, you can actually drop to 537 defense and still be fine, so you can lose around 115 defense rating and remain uncrittable. Of that, 22 should come from the chest enchant fix right away, leaving around 93 more you can safely lose.

The pillar legs would cost you 90 defense rating, but you would remain uncrittable by relying on your shoulder enchant. If you prefer more padding, buy the cat chest first. It has 37 more defense rating than your current chest (ignoring enchants), so by switching in chest then legs you'd always have a buffer of at least 40 defense rating (i.e. should never fall below about 545 defense).

Good luck!

So I have 105 Frost badges now and I'm not sure what to buy.

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Eitrigg&cn=Dashdar

I have enough for the helm or chest, but I also do not have the cape yet, which I know is great. And if I got the cape, I would not be far off from getting the trinket too.

I've had bad luck getting tank gear from ICC 10 (2 drops in almost 2 months) so I've been depending a lot of Frost badge gear.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Your first EoF purchase is one of Sentinel's Winter Cloak, Gauntlets of the Kraken, Cataclysmic Chestguard, or Verdegris Chain Belt. Your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th EoF purchases are the remaining 3. Replace weakest gear piece first.

Since you already have the gloves and belt, and your chest is iLvl 245, replace your iLvl 213 cloak.

Here is my pally tank:

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Aerie+Peak&cn=Nothan

I am pretty casual when it comes to raiding, I raid what I can when the opportunity presents itself, so I don't have consistent group going every week on heroic (though this might change in the future depending on work schedule). Just this weekend I got invited to tank heroic ICC10H for a few friends of my guildmate when I have never tanked anything beyond 10/12 before on normal, but surprisingly enough, it wasn't too rough and I ended up downing 11/12 on heroic mode and LK normal as my first tanking anything really hard.

Would there be any specific drops I'd be aiming to get on normal/heroic still given what I have equipped currently? For weapons, I do have a Troggbane(not enchanted yet, just got it tonight)/Bonebreaker Scepter (non-heroic) as my tank weapons and a heroic Soulbreaker as a slow threat/fun weapon and I have a normal Neverending Winter which I don't use since I lose a bit of hit and expertise. Just not too sure what pieces would be an immediate upgrade to what I have now. The chances of me doing a 25man are pretty much slim to none.

Casual choices - 95 EoF and stuck.

Postby Discus » Sun May 23, 2010 4:18 pm

These "what should i spend my badges on threads" annoy me too, but I can't find the answer for an "EoF tortoise" in the guides. I'm a very casual player, mostly heroic dailies and occasional ICC10 as MT. Through dailies and weeklies I've collected another 96 EoF over a few months, no sniggering at my gear please :D

http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... &cn=Discus

I've read all the excellent gear/EoF spend order guides on here but I'm still stuck - I have the EoF cloak, gloves and belt (offset armour belt and gloves). Experienced players have told me I need 2 piece tier 10 bonus so that would be helm now then shoulders in about errmm.. July. However the offset cataclysmic chest is BIS (for me) and would up my expertise from 21 (with SoV its 26 cap) but realistically this would mean no T10 bonus for me. I have T9 gloves which I wear in heroics for extra threat 2 set bonus. But overgeared dps and annoying offtanks can pull mobs in Raids.

Short answer: Cata Chest.

I agree and also disagree. Biggest upgrade definately but it will also completely clean you out of badges and I feel for Discus 2 upgrades are better than 1 in this case.

I would go T10 shoulders [BiS for casual players who only do 10 mans] and then run/pug VoA 10 and 25 every week for a leg or gloves drop. That leaves you 36 badges towards your next piece. Get a lucky drop from VoA and you have the two piece bonus, albeit not the optimal one.

I do have to mention that your gemming looks quite odd to me. Are you logged in a hybrid threat set? I don't understand the hybrid expertise, hit and parry gems even as valid choices for matching socket bonuses.

If threat is an issue, use the 200 strength proc bonus libram.

Re: Gear Check/Advice Thread

I'm not sure which piece of gear I should go for next. I am currently gearing up in Heroics but keep running into problems. I have the rotation down, threat is mostly a none issue, I just feel really squishy. I'm not quite at the recommended defense rating but I'm not far from it either. I was thinking of getting http://www.wowhead.com/item=47731 next to go ahead and cap defense rating but I still feel that I'll see a greater increase by replacing my Chest with tier 9. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
