T10 Set (4 pieces)

Postby bennie » Thu Apr 01, 2010 6:50 am

Hi,

i wonder whats the best choise of the 5 available set pieces (T10 ilvl277)
I saw some wearing Helm+Shoulder+Check+Gloves.
Is this really the best combination?

I wonder if it is good not useing the legs of the set? i checked the items and think its quiete better to use:
Helm+Legs + 2 other set pieces.

what you say/think?

best regards

I believe the reason that they aren't wearing pants at 277 is because the pillars of might are just so much better.

It's pillars of might he's talking about dude. It has loads of armor on, so way better EH legs.

4pc has little uses in ICC HMs.(save 5% LK and maybe Sindragosa - see bellow)

As it stands at ilvl277, Head, Chest, and Gloves have the highest EH to us than comparable offset pieces.
Pillars of Might > All in the legs department.
As far as shoulders go 277 Bone Commanders are marginally better EH (+18 stam) than 277 tier, so if you are looking at 4pc, that's the slot.

Personally, 277 Bone Commander are so easy to get that 277 tier shoulders are the last thing on my shopping list atm.
So far in the world, the only paladin tank to complete a victory over HM LK used 4pc (and a specific spec as well) so you can have an idea of the worth of 12% dodge h in that fight.
But, then again, that was done at 5% buff. With the current 10%, you could just add another healer to his comp and "get ir done" much more safely :D

12% dodge is very nice if you actually dodge shit with it. A lot of HM paladins aren't aiming to do 277 4pc because of the RNG nature of it.

I wear the T10 legs for the expertise more than for the set bonus. Heck, I wear them for the graphics as well. A very nice way to differentiate yourself from the other plate tanks is to just wear a dress.

I've been paying attention to my armor and with my 10 man Putricide trinket, I'm sitting at almost 72% damage reduction through armor when I get buffs from my fellow raiders. A bit more and armor will start to become worthless, so I'm not concerned, at all, with crafting the Pillars of Might. I would say that where I am, they are substantially worse than the tier gear.

I could get the shoulders instead but that would open up the expertise issue again and I would start lagging behind in threat like I was when I wasn't at an appropriate level of expertise. I already pull substantially higher threat numbers on my lesser geared warrior, may as well not widen the divide even further for negligible gain.

Are you aware of how much more armor you need to hit the cap from 72%? It's not easily attainable, and not worthless at all.

I would have thought that the reason he was using 4 set is that the tier pieces are alot more attractive at 277 than they are at 264 rather than just taking them solely for the 4set bonus, although I don't see the extra cooldown being unwelcome in a situation like that !

Pillars of Might are better EH than 277 T10.
My best guess (no numbers backing it up) is that Lazeil weighed EH vs Avoidance and decided to forgo the EH from Pillars of Might to gain more avoidance.

Dare I look dumb, what exactly is in heroic LK that makes a once a minute on-use dodge trinket so valuable?

Soul Reaper + melee combo I believe? Although I have yet to kill any wing bosses except saurfang so I can't speak from experience, but most of what I have read about the fight points to that as the reason.
