I just find refreshing diseases with one GCD rather than two leaves me more space for fun stuff, especially now that GoD refreshes all secondary effects as well.

but if you don't hit pest you have to start all over. with a GoIT build you have time to fill in if you get dodged (i have low expertise)

Glyph of Disease is more of a quality of life adjustment question than a dps increase in most situations. As in, if you can nail the pestilence at the right time, every time, you're gtg, but if you don't, it messes up the whole rotation. And since expertise is a low priority stat for unholy (as dodged special attacks don't eat up runes) I imagine a lot of players are much more comfortable having that margin of error to make adjustments.

unholy doesn't even have the option of using glyph of disease anymore anyway. glyph of icy touch is too strong for them.
