[Holy - PvP] Using Prot talents

Postby hadrhune » Wed Apr 15, 2009 11:38 pm

I was thinking about a Holy PvP build using Prot talents far down on the tree. I came up (5 mins ago) with this build.

http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#sxhbghZxGzNruMGscufb (20/51/0)

But why this build?

The main idea of this build is to reduce incoming damage (in % values) and have Divine Plea active at all times (Mostly to have 3% reduction)

Improved Righteous Fury = 6%
Blessing of Sanctuary = 3%
Ardent Defender = 30% (Bellow 35% HP)
Guarded By the Light = 6% (Spell Damage)
Shield of the Templar = 3%
glyph of Divine Plea = 3%

Equals to:

15% Physical Reduction (45% when Ardent Defender is active)
21% Spell Reduction (51% when Ardent Defender is active)

If you refresh Divine Plea every 10 seconds (By using your Judgement on an enemy player) you won't have mana problems by the lack of INT

+14% stamina
20 secs CD Hammer of Justice
3 secs Silence Avenger's Shield
30% Incresed critical Heals (How about a full critical gear?)
Heals on you 11% more effective (Divinity + Improved Devotion Aura)
Holy Shield Against Melee attackers

Anyways, do you guys think this can be used on arenas???

How about Death Knight + Immortal Pally Healer?

DP doesn't refresh when I use judgements, I have to swing at them for white melee damage. So that pretty much hurts holy unless they like to be in melee range all the time. Also, are you sure BoSanc > BoK for PvP? I don't see another pally in your PvP arena suggestion.

I would agree with Eleveneleven that BoK is more useful than BoSanc, unless you face off against 2 rogues or 2 warriors.

On a related note, your judgements will only have a range of about 10 yards? JotJ is not going to be that useful unless you intend to be staring back at the opposition in melee.

Divine Plea can be dispelled/purged now, might want to keep that in mind.

Lastly most holy pvp pallies are heavily dependent on Holy Shocks. A crit Holy Shock = instant FoL = 7-10k hp over 2sec without casting.

You will need a 3rd player to round out the grouping to justify the spec (another hybrid healer class).
Judge a man by the trials of his shield, not the empty reaping of his sword.

Not if you took Guarded by the Light.

paladin healing in arena, or healing in general, is hosed without some manner of instant healing. Otherwise you'll eventually be put in a bad spot and quickly interrupted. You'll also have much less crit than holy which lowers illumination's strength. Your healing spells go to 2 instead of 3.

If you want a non-holy healer with tricks, it's safer to go ret with: 28/0/43
http://talent.mmo-champion.com/?paladin=503501500200130300000000000000000000000000000000000005232250223001322130200300&glyph=191122060405&version=9806
60% healing as a HoT
Stun Removal
Crit increase
Offensive dps increase (3% crit, imp might, ret aura)
ranged and magic avoidance (+4%)
Disarm Reduction (hurts dismantle and such, keep your armor longer)
CC (repentance)
More supportive burst damage
JotW (infinite mana, and a bonus with giving your partner mana)
Mana cost reduction (benediction)
Run Speed (15% isntead of 8%)
Porcupine effect (Eye for An Eye, Imp Ret Aura)
Dmg/HP reduction (vindication)
Dispel protection (Heart of the Crusader + judgement debuff offensively, Vengeance defensively)
Reduced CD on Avenging Wrath (+20% healing, more often)

Though frankly in either case holy still wins out. Actually, a ton of holy paladins in s5 were basically Ret with holy instead of holy with ret simply because of how much stronger ret's utility is for a healer. 51/20/0 is basically superior healing tools and survivability.

edit: you could also try 31/0/40 sacrificing ret's hot for holy shock which isn't a terrible trade off from the above list o' crap.
