[10/25] Making the Heigan Dance easy

Postby majorwoo » Tue Dec 02, 2008 11:39 am

We had a few wipes to the Heigan dance, until I told everyone what I was doing, and what seems like the easiest way to do it.

http://www.wowwiki.com/Heigan_the_Unclean

Everyone was worrying so much about what zone to be in next, where the edge of it is, etc. As a tank I simply do the 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 dance but just look to the next zone. Right after the Eruption run to the middle of the next zone, you can easily see the graphic of it if you are looking for the next zone to move to. Dps can do the same - it makes it 100x easier then trying to. "ok everyone get in zone 3" "where is the border between zone 3 and 4? Ah, I'm dead"

The real point of this post is when your explaining it to your people who can't seem to grasp what you are telling them - don't tell them to do the dance, describe it as move to the next zone that just erupted, no need to preplan the edges of the zone - simply go stand in the graphic of the last eruption.

It was exactly when discussing smoke flares that I described it as "just move to the zone that just blew up" and everyone was like "OMG I GET IT"

"Don't fail"

/pull

The beauty is that the people die get to watch how you do it right. Odds are they'd have died anyway their first time, so might as well get it over with.

This. The bodies serve as smoke flares for your first kill, and people generally are embarrassed and don't screw up after that.
Arthas, we're coming for you. (Eventually)

Totems make good markers as well.

I did it for 20 minutes trying to 4 man him :-D. Seriously on your learning attempts the corpses of the dead make a great markers. Also have your melee dps stand on the tank instead of behind the boss. So many melee deaths due to the boss standing in the next erruption.

First attempt on Heigan took us 14:42 because 3-4 people died on the first dance and no one else did. They learned it, by god!

The eruptions used to eat smoke flares, totems, Elune Beams ...

Hate that fight. Haven't died to it in WLK yet, but still hate it.

Took us 4 tries to get enough people to survive the dance. On the kill, 5 manned 60% to 20% and 4 manned then rest. Fight took some odd 10min to the cheers of the fallen, whose corpses indeed make great markers.

You know that there is a safespot ?
yeah youve gotta deal with parry haste but heigan hits like a little girl anyways so 1-2 extra hits at a time wont kill you.

I'm guessing he's referring to the tankspot video about Heingan, melee stands ontop of the tank and follows him blindly, so they don't have to actually know anything, just keep on moving.

And when they're doing that, they're hitting the boss from the front and making parry-hastened boss attacks, but who cares.
