Please debunk what I heard

Over the weekend my brother-in-law told me the defense cap was being raised to 580 for level 80. Supposedly, this change was made recently.

Everything I have read is 540.

Have yall heard anything about this?

It would be rather odd of blizzard to change the cap when it would be much easier for them to just change the defense rating equation if they want you to get more defense.

Sounds like crap. Random rumor crap seems to be spreading.

Had someone tell me last night in Kara:
"Oh, I have basic kings, not the improved version.... but its 10 percent, that's just a typo, its not 2 percent, my friend told me the improved version brings it all the way up to 18..."

Kara's so nerfed now I didn't care to debate it.

Since the defense "cap" isn't a number specifically assigned by blizzard (and also is not a cap), it would be pretty hard for them to change it.

You need 140 defense skill over the base for your level to reach 5.6% crit reduction. Base at level 80 is 400. 400 + 140 = 540.

If they were prot I could understand it. They took just enough to go deeper into the tree.

the tooltip is messed up though... i thought someone had buffed me w/ 1-point kings, but when I inspected them, they had the full version. No one else in the raid had any into it either.

Anyone else see that? I'm sure this is old news.

Tool tips have never shown "improved" stats.

So, yes... its a known "feature"

Well, he said he was talking to a guy in Beta. It didn't sound right to me, so I came to the experts for confirmation.

OH yeah, kings is broken right now. I'm trying a build with full improved kings and it is only adding 10% to stats.

I opened a ticket and got the "Known issue and we're working on it."

tooltips have since the dawn of wow never updated themselves for talent improved versions. They always show the non improved numbers.
