Divine Shield, Avenging Wrath and Forebearance (3rd try)

The way I see it, the problem was divine shield can be used very aggressively to prevent CC or movement impairing. Divine protection doesn't have those properties, so I don't see any reason they'd have to do anything about Avenging Wrath and Divine Protection being used together. Thus I wouldn't be suprised if Lore's observation is dead on: divine protection may be uneffected, and the only case where it will even be an issue is when trying to clear debuffs near a major phase shift or add spawn. DP in fact is being changed to not have an attack detriment anymore at all, and it sounds like our talent will have something new to replace the attack speed bonus.

A huge part of the benefit that AW+DS gave was that it was undispellable except by Priest. So, arena teams with no Priest going up a Ret Pally with any measure of gear pretty much lost one of their players immediately. Anyone who's even set foot in an arena can tell you that whoever loses a player first loses the match.

I wonder what they will tweak the talent to do.
I know my preference would be to tweak our block to block incoming magic damage...not reflect, not even block the whole spell...just reduce the incoming damage equivalent to our block value.
Its different enough from other tanks talents and would really help us against casters.
Its also deep enough in the Protection tree so that only tanks would get it.
It shouldn't be over-powered as, if its based on chance to block, we wouldnt be able to block every incoming spell, only about half of them...
A neat twist on it would be if the spell proc'd HS charges so the caster would eat HS damage on a successful spell-block, but it wouldn't be mandatory.
It would definitely act to increase our TTL against casters.

Unless you can heal through the damage. Or stay out of melee range. Or bubble/HoP/iceblock the target.
It really feels like the situation is greatly exaggerated now. With level 80 resilience gear will a ret paladin really be able to 2shot anyone?

I don't think you have a idea of the amount of burst damage a ret paladin is capable if not stopped.
You can get hit up to 6 times in 2 GCDs (1.5 seconds)
Specifically:
- Divine Storm
- SoC proc from Divine Storm
- Melee swing
- SoC proc from melee swing
- Judgement
- SoC proc from judgement
That's 1.5 seconds of time, you might have got destroyed.
