Speed does not matter only dps. The new SoV is applied on every hit.

To continue the weapon discussion, I would assume a slow (2.6ish) weapon is better - with SoV>SoR... I assume HoR isnt normalized (IE it benifits slow hard hitting weapons like Sininster strike)... I found 3 slow rare or better tanking weapons (one quest, one 5-man drop, one 25man naxx)... Since warriors want fast weapons, I assume these are for paladin...

FAQ

Speed is irrelevant. HotR ignores speed, everything else is fully normalised.

ZOMG... I'm linking my FAQ in my FAQ  I thought I had this in the OP? Checking.

I'm not sure if this question should belong in this thread, but shouldn't be the fact that we can now block elemental/magic based physical damage, such as fire damage from Flames of Azzinoth, or your typical mote dropping elementals? Before 3.0 there were not blockable whereas they are post 3.0.

I think it's a good idea to include that we can now block magical melee in the FAQ.

A chance to block attacks on, say, the Hydross fight??
That would be sweet.

Has anyone written up a quick guide to Tankadins and professions at 80? I read elsewhere that the Engineering goggles for druids were meh, wanted to know how they are for us in WotLK, as well as Blacksmithing pieces, etc.

Thanks!

Not sure if anyone has asked before but I think you can add this question:

Q: Why do you always type "Defence" instead of "Defense"?

Last I checked "speaking" the word defense, phonetically, is exactly the same as speaking the word defence.

Spelling it on the other hand is an entirely different subject.

Then surely would it not be better to build the stack quicker by using a quicker weapon? Also a miss with a 2.6 second weapon equals an additional 2.6 seconds minimum to fill the stack. Wheras with a (example) 1.8 second weapon requires only 1.8 seconds longer for a chance to fill the stack.

Unless I'm missing something?

You are..

2.6 speed..
-------
0... 1 stack (auto-attack)
0.5... 2 stack (hotr)
2.0.. 3 stack Judgement
2.6.. 4 stack (auto-attack)
5.2.. 5 stack (auto-attack)

1.8 speed..
--------
0... 1 stack (auto-attack)
0.5.. 2 stack (hotr)
1.8.. 3 stack (auto-attack)
2.0.. 4 stack (judgement)
3.6.. 5 stack (auto-attack)

So a 1.6 secon difference to a full stack. OR a .6 speed difference to a stack of 4. Its virtually no different. Stacking up SOV is never a reason to choose a fast or slow weapon.

From what you're saying, it seems like it emphasises the point. You're judging for a greater amount for the first judgment by having a quicker weapon. Sure, you'd pick the overall better weapon, but in the case of a weapon, both with identical stats, you'd pick the quicker weapon right?

Edit: Sure, my question might not hold much weight in the grand scheme of things, but I'd rather get my head completely around the new system. ^^

"Hammer the current target and up to 2 additional nearby targets, causing 4 times your main hand damage per second as Holy damage."
- Surely means it doesn't really give a damn about the speed, but is only effected by the actual dps of the wep.

2.6 speed..
-------
0... 1 stack (auto-attack)
0.5... 2 stack (hotr)
2.0.. 3 stack Judgement
2.6.. 4 stack (auto-attack)
3.0.. SOV TICKS FOR 4 stack dmg
5.2.. 5 stack (auto-attack)
6.0.. SOV TICKS FOR 5 stack dmg

1.8 speed..
--------
0... 1 stack (auto-attack)
0.5.. 2 stack (hotr)
1.8.. 3 stack (auto-attack)
2.0.. 4 stack (judgement)
3.0.. SOV TICKS FOR 4 stack dmg
3.6.. 5 stack (auto-attack)
6.0.. SOV TICKS for 5 stack dmg

Virtually no difference.
