It seems like a pretty strong argument to at least gem for agi wherever you were thinking about gemming for dodge. Even now it's almost true, except the crit benefits are much lower.

It should affect all abilities that are melee or ranged attacks, right? If it crits at 2x, I'd expect agi to affect it... HotR, ShoR, judge, AS... those should crit with agi, right?

I believe so, though I havent really bothered to research it...

My understanding is that if it crits for 2.0 times damage then its working off melee crit and 1.5x is off spell crit..

However, Blizzard does wierd things some times, so who knows what they have actually done under the hood...

Yeah... the entire class' mechanics are weird at this point. I guess it's for the best since using the "normal" mechanics up through BC totally hamstrung us for item budget.

Anyway, shouldn't be TOO hard to test by going and buying a bunch of agi greens and recounting a few minutes of combat.

So...
1 Agility = 0.83 Dodge Rating
1 Agility = 2.2 Armor
1 Agility = 0.381 strength for tps
and 1 STR = 0.5 BV

Seems str wins for TPS and damage reduction. Agi wins for avoidance due to Diminishing Returns.

The real questions:
Are there enough slots to hit dodge DR?
Are there enough slots to hit Defense DR on miss to cap dodge DR with AGI?
Would a STR+Dodge Rating mixture overpower straight AGI for tps+mitigation?

Also, when comparing it to dodge, agility isn't affected by diminishing returns, so they actually become much closer the more dodge you have.

ok, so crit rating in PTR/patch 3/WotLK was changed to house crit and spell crit rating meaning it affects both the crit chance of spells and physical hits.

Agi has always provided crit.

Can we confirm or deny by testing that it does indeed increase spell crit?

That is the basis of this 1/3 threat argument of str, right..

Someone, please tell me the diminishing returns? What is the equation? Is there a cap like is it entire equation is
if Rating<cap, %=equation a, else rating returns cap

or how does it behave?
Every equation I find doesn't actually diminish the effectiveness of the rating..

You can probably find it here via search, and there's a thread on the elitist jerks forum. The formula for it seems to be pretty intense.
