I have a series of questions about the Protection Tree:

Why is Redoubt a T8 talent?

If I read it correctly, Divine Guardian causes damage to yourself when Divine Shield is up. What is the purpose of this talent?

Why did we lose 20 defense to get 5% dodge? Is defense cap gone?

Why did they not add increase threat on Righteous Fury?

1) Because they buffed it and made it fairly good.

2) No it doesn't it's just a poorly worded tooltip. You still take 0 damage while bubbled.

3) No, it is 540, they removed defense from talents to force us to take more defense gear/gems etc to curve ridiculous health/avoidance numbers.

4) They rolled it into the baseline ability.

OK, Divine Guardian does NOT damage you. You are in a bubble and you protect nearby members of the raid from 30% of damage.

Both the warrior and paladin version of anticipation became dodge instead of defense. More defense is on gear now, but they are working on tweaking things, as it is still beta, since maintaining the defense MINIMUM (Not a cap) is near impossible pre raid.

The Righteous Fury threat (Improved Righteous Fury) is now baseline, not needing to be talented. The improved version simply mitigates 6% of damage received.

Also, redoubt has been unlinked from, and folded into shield spec. Since we gain insane amounts of threat from block value (new talent at lvl 75 called Shield of Righteousness) The increase in block value plus small increase in block rating is a bigger deal)

Just as well, Blessing of Kings has been moved to T1 talents and improved via 4 more points to make it more accessible to holy/ret paladins.

As it simply stands, it is essentially a poor defensive stance. The Warrior's improved defensive stance gives them improved threat generation on top of improved damage reduction.

Threat is not an issue with our mechanics. Mitigation remains to be seen. We do insane amounts of threat now. Pop the top of your favorite beverage and rejoice.

The damage reduction of RF is what is lacking. I don't think any tankadin tanking in beta has complained much if at all about threat (other than saying it may be very overpowered if anything).

we have 6%, warriors 10%, druids 15% in the respective "defensive stance"...

if the devs crunch the numbers and see that we are squishy they'll give us a higher %

so far 6% have been enough for tbc atleast...

besides, warriors will get lots of unblocked hits in wotlk...
