Bye bye Mechnostrider

I had purchased a Mechnostrider to use in AV and other battlegrounds because I didn't want to use mana to mount up. Now I won't have to.

Summon Warhorse and Summon Charger mana cost removed and no longer causes a global cooldown.

Gobal cooldown thing is interesting since it takes 3 sec to cast your mount....

it means a new macro will work with it.

It also allows us to buff up before mounting in a battleground or what have you without standing there for 1.5 seconds looking silly.

This is to bring it inline with item mounts which do not inflict global cooldown on other spells.

Nah, it is just for the macro to mount and change aura.

Normal Mount + Macro works
Summon Mount + Macro does not work (or 2 key press)

well that is one of the effects, yes, but I guarantee that particular macro is not the motivation behind the change.

Well, even though I don't PvP much I went ahead and bought the item-mount instead of doing the pally quest. Looking at the costs on my server it looked like they'd cost about the same anyway. My motivations were:

* Summoned mounts cost mana and therefore put you in the 5SR, which is significant while leveling.
* An item-mount can be used immediately after casting a spell or while silenced. The other can't, which leads to standing around for 1.5 seconds all the time.

Basically, they cost the same amount but the item-mount is better in all ways except maybe looks. So why bother with the long quest line at 60?

I might go back and do it now than I'm 70 though. Should be nice and quick.

I might have to start collecting mounts when they no longer take bag space.

will be neat to have a /castrandom and add all the mounts...never know what you're riding next!

Spellmounts suck bad :/

I've used a mechanostrider ever since the welfare PvP epics patch, only recently replaced it with an Amani War Bear which is sexy for dwarves in T6.

I've used my charger maybe three times since I got it, partly because of it not working in the macro, but mostly because I never thought the horse mounts looked good (had a normal Ram before 60, too; warhorse just looks stiff running on anything that isn't flat). Might add it into the macro anyway, just so it finally sees some use.
