They'll have to shrink it some....but if its bigger than a Tauren, that's good enough for me.

Even Tauren or raptor size....it would be an insanely good looking pet...

Yeah, but everyone will have one. (Keeping in mind that it looks like raptors will be the the highest dps pets).

The problem is that the exotic pets, other than t-rex, are not likely to be from the highest utility families.

DPS - raptors, hands down. every BM with a t-rex
Tanking - turtles and bears - nothing unique in the game there, so no exotics
AOE tanking - Crocs and Ravens. Again, nothing unique.

So really, the exotic pets, as they stand now, are going to be pathetic, unless the "special skills" mimic the talents that the families above have, making them something we want to keep.

I have 2 words for anyone who disagrees....

"Pet Devilsaur"
(Bonus if "Pet LandSharK" works too)

No one will be able to resist the LANDSHARK

In that case I'll be the only MM hunter left in WoW. No way I'd spec BM.

It was mentioned somewhere that Steady Shot no longer clips Auto Shot, so the BM clipping issue should be a thing of the past.

Also IIRC Exotic Pets aren't implemented yet.

The few. The proud. The glass cannons. :D

Heck, I'd consider MM if the 51-point talent didn't stink and TS scaled and applied raid-wide.

This also makes Improved Aspect of the Hawk actually worthwhile and awesome for non-BM spec classes, who would previously have to adjust their shot rotations for when it procced.

On the WoW forums, a blue used the devilsaur as an example of an exotic pet, so I think we can assume that it will be one of them.

It seems the idea has come out of players desire to have pets with unique skins or models or abilities. Everyone tried to tame the spirit wolf, despite its difficulty, when it was discovered they were tameable under the right conditions. They said they would keep it like that, then they made them untameable not too long ago. A prime example of an exotic pet. Remember when the ZF snakes were tameable then they stopped that? What about Lupos of Duskwood, who delivered shadow damage instead of physical damage (and was great for PvP against plate-wearers)? They changed the damage to physical to remove that pets advantage. The fire rocs that everyone trained as Molten Core pets because they started with 400 fire resistance?

As far as other exotics, I would assume anything that is labelled "beast" that is not currently tameable is possible:

-Clefthooves
-Corehounds (they were tameable for a little while)
-Devilsaurs
-Giraffes
-Griffons
-Hippogryphs
-Pythons (WC, Nagrand, etc)
-Stags
-Spirit Wolf (like the ones in SFK and in the totem quest)
-Talbuks
-Thrashers
-Ursangous (not likely, but would be neat to have this unique pet model)

Possible exotic abilities that were in the game before (so might make a come-back):
-Very fast attack speed (Brokentooth's 1.0 speed)
-Faster than normal pursuit speed (King Bangledash)
-Natural resistances (Fire Rocs)
-Non-physical damage (Lupos)
-Better stats (+20% attack/armor/health...faster focus regen)
-Unique Abilities(like mana drain or fear from the nether rays)
-Overpowered Abilities (like a 70 foot tall Dinosaur sneaking up to you...j/k)

EDIT:
Confirmed: Devilsaur is an exotic with the special ability Mostrous bite: http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=54680

Chimera is also an exotic pet, special ability is Froststorm Breath http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?spell=54644

Can anyone clarify about the "Steady shot no longer clip Autoshot" fix?
Does it mean that Autoshot will be fired even when I am casting Steady shot?

I would like to have a gnome rogue as my DPS pet and a gnome warrior as tanking pet.

it means you won't lose dps from pushing back autoshot.

i don't know if it's accomplished by actually firing a shot in the middle of the animation, or if its "pushed back" until after the animation, without changing the overall rotation.

but regardless, it means "the macro" isn't needed anymore.

Auto Shot is on a regular outgoing basis now. It depends on your weapon speed + speedboni and nothing else interferes with it.
There is solely a small delay when using some special shots, which is about 0.25 - 0.5s - this however doesn't really matter!

As for Hunter in General
BM will dominate PvP and PvE - as for Damage, that is
SV will dominate PvE - The Support is still so freaking awesome
MM has its nice spots, but they wont dominate anything! As for PvP they got way to less Anti-CC - Chimaera is nice in PvP AND PvP - Less dmg from every Boss alll 10 seconds for 3 hits (60 40 20 dmg reduction) is really cool.
This however results in so much less dmg that it wont be profitable.

Lets just hope MM gets a bit PvE Buffed ;)
(and i know what im speaking - i played my Hunter till BT Clear and up to 2.2k in S3 (with a paladin, that is...))

TS can't scale. It's OP as hell now if used right. A MM hunter in the physical tank group means the raid can kick out about 900 more DPS due to the extra threat generation.

I'm not remotely convinced that BM will still be the maximum DPS spec for hunters. MM seems to gain a lot more from no auto-shot clipping, and Wild Quiver is insane. The MM hunter is now a Combat: Swords Rogue with a 41 yd range and a pet. If anything I expect us to be Nerfed.
