Sheath of Light
Hello Maintankadins, first time poster but I've been reading for years.
I've been paying close attention to all the Theory crafting that is going on about the new coefficients that are effecting our seals and spells. What I am noticing for hand is the strong drive to have Str and Stam effect our threat. I think this is some great synergy taking place but I'm concerned by Holy Shield and Consecration not being effected by Str.
After some long thought, I have found some strong interest in Sheath of Light for several strong reasons. Please note that these findings are based of Tybalt's work in the WotLK beta forums and his findings on our coefficients.
We will be using the base line of 1400 Stam and 800 AP.
Seal of Righteousness:
1 AP = .12 DMG
1 SP = .27 DMG
So for SoR we are seeing that our Spell Power effects it for nearly double what Attack Power effects it for. So...
800 AP = 90 DMG
1400 Stam x 30% = 420 SP
420 SP = 113.4 DMG
Total DMG increase = 203.4 DMG
Pretty easy to see that our Seals are still scaling better with our Spell Power. Now, let's add in our Sheath of Light effects.
800 AP = 90 DMG
800 AP x 30% = 240 SP
1400 STAM x 30% = 420 SP
660 SP = 178 Damage increase.
Total DMG Increase = 268.2
So with Sheath of Light in the equation we are looking at a 65 Damage Increase per swing. Lets take a look at what Seals of the Pure increases our Seal by without Sheath of Light.
203.4 x 15% = 30.51 Increase.
So we are seeing that Damage Bonus from Sheath of light is greater then what Seals of the Pure offers us. Unfortunately I don't have the equations to math out the full SoR damage with Seals of the Pure, only the bonus from our SP and AP.
Sheath of Light also would benefit our Consecrate and Holy Shield abilities across the board since it would be gaining benefits from our SP. So far Tybalt has not found Holy Shield or Consecrate gaining benefits from our AP.
Overall, I think that adding Sheath of Light along with the already strong synergies from the Ret Tree (Pursuit of Justice and Deflection) will have a stronger impact on our overall threat generation then Hammer of Righteousness or Seals of the Pure. It also creates a strong roll as Off Tanks or Off Healers as our Shield Bash scales incredibly with the Str we will be gaining as well as a stronger Threat per swing of our Main Hand weapon, while also giving us a strong well to fall back to on our Spell Power and the effects of Sheath of Light and Touched by the Light on our healing spells.
Your mileage may vary, of course, and I would love to hear all of your thoughts on the matter. The many new options WotLK is bringing us make it hard to find just the right spec.
Spec I am thinking on:
http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents2.html?tal=00000000000000000000000000550001305201210250155302000500350502000003000000000000
I put 2 points into Guarded by the Light because I tend to be involved with 5 mans, Heroics or Kara/ZA. This can be easily switched for Judgements of the Just for increased avoidance.

Ok it's fixed now, as u said it's not a MT
but I think it will be listed in the WotlK Popular Tankadin Specs
as The AoE tanking build or AoE grinding build.
I think it's questionable the effective role of this spec in th 10/25men raid.
Really it depends from the end-game contents and we don't know it atm.
BTW I guess this build looks a bit more focused and usefull: 0/43/28

Agreed, it deffinetly is not a Main Tank spec, but a strong 5 man, 10 man, off Heal and Off Tank set up. I'm actually thinking this might be the setup preffered for Off Tank/Trash trash since there is so much AoE ability with such strong and effective off spec things for Boss Progression.
It's a strong alternative spec or leveling spec in my mind. But, I haven't had a chance to play the new Prot so we will wait and see.

This idea is like the first that came into my mind when looking at the talents and it's still there.
Can't really wait to check it out!
+15% Strength (Talent)
+16% Stamina (Talents)
+10% All Stats (Kings)
+10% AP (Unleashed Fury, Enhancement Shaman)
These are just buffs which will add percentages to stats increasing their effectiveness as the gear improves.
They are my favorites!
We might see loads of +spelldmg in the endgame and drool about 500ish consecration ticks.
Needs Hyjal2!
I have not done the math yet however

Yep, Sheath+Touched definitely looks to be the AoE grinding spec. I probably won't bother respeccing to grind though, except when I'm full Ret for PvP. HotR + Reckoning + 2H looks to be amazing for more standard non-AoE farming when pulling 30 just won't work.

Unfortunately, right now HotR requires a one handed weapon.

Sheath of Light looks like it's gonna be WotLK's Sanctity aura. A talent just deep enough in the Ret Tree that it requires us sacrficing the Prot end talent.
Looks like a decent spec if you're AoEing, but i'm not giving up my Hammer of Wub. If the two-spec deal happens, I might build this one up as second spec.

Be careful when you argue with trolls, lest you become one.
