Items like these (boe leveling tanking blues ftw) along with Blizz's apparent commitment to improving Blacksmithing's value to tanks is really cool. :-)

Interesting note....that shield has slightly more armor than Kaz'rogal's Hardened Heart, which gives us a decent bead on how the ilevels shake out (though in this case KHH wins out due to the socket it looks like). That's level 76 blues on par with i141 epics, a bit more aggressive of a reset than I was expecting.

It's still just one item comparison though, I'll be interested to see more.

That works for me. If level 76 blues (probably about on par with greens and blues at the end of long quest chains at 80) are on par with what I'm wearing now, I can easily get by on my current gear to level 80 instances, assuming the mechanics changes aren't a massive shake-up.

Keep in mind these are BOE blue items that are being linked. Most likely (following current trends) they will drop more commonly from content that is higher level than their lvl req. What we need to see are dungeon rewards, esp. from the higher level content.

Looks to be in line with itemization level of WoW -> BC: not-quite endgame epics = 75 (or 65 in BC) blues.

For comparison, the following TBC items are req level 66 blues:

Normal Durnholde drops

Shield of the Wayward Footman comes to mind as a lvl 65 boe blue

Also, it appears that all tanking gear will have str.
I haven't seen any tanking gear with spellpower yet...
Divine Strength will need a hard look at 80 for sure.

I wouldn't expect to see any tanking gear with spellpower anymore. We won't really know how much Str is a part of tanking itemization until we see 80 blues....leveling tanking drops are generally tank/DPS hybrid pieces (at least that was the case in TBC).

Well with the 2 str = 1 sbv change, plus DK's wanting str for obvious reasons, it seems likely anyway.

Strength has value now!!!!! wow, that means all the tanking gear i wear now will be replaced rather quickly. If the mechanics change, everything I'm wearing is completely obsolete...... I like the added block value but....... That means I'll be gimped right away. Well maybe I should take a break until WotLK comes out, almost no point in grabbing the gear.

The fact the Str has value doesn't mean the +dam doesn't have value. I expect Tankadins with 70 raid gear to be pretty overpowered threat-wise leveling 70 -> 80.

Blizzard said the gear reset would not be as dramatic as it was in TBC but we can see that's clearly false now :/ Looks like there will be dungeon blues that are better than the Illidan and Sunwell shields.
