from the beta notes, our 51 talent point will be based on weapon dmg, so do we still gonna fight for a caster weapon to max our dmg from SoR/SoV/SoCoru, or just gonna stick with an avoidance weapon?


another thing i was thinking is that from the loots so far i think i do understand why the +str talent is in prot tree now but then... if there's 0 int from gears, do we really have enough mana to use even tho the new talents reduce alot of mana cost, we still lack a thing which makes mana more reliable when comparing to rage or iunno how dk's are going to deal with tanking


what do you guys think?

Current theorycrafting and practice suggests a regular tank weapon for up to 3 targets, and spelldamage weapon for more than 3 targets.

Honestly, it looks to me like we'll be wearing a 'warrior tank weapon' any time we're not trying to let mages/locks and the other classes with flashy new AoEs burn down a ton of guys at once. If we're trying to let them do that, then yeah, we'd probably want to have a spell damage weapon on to tack on that TPS to our consecrate.

If I was AoE tanking things but they were still being single targeted down, I would still wear the warrior tank weapon I'd say.

Coincidently, this AOE spell damage weapon will be the same as the healing weapon we will equip to off-heal. Looks like my bank space will be much less crowded after the expansion is released ...

Why is there doubt?

We're already used to carrying around a buttload of gear for different purposes. Now we have to add another weapon. Not a big deal really.

least i wont have to collect a healing set, too, looks like i can cut down on what i bring to raids, finally

That is the nice thing. More than ever we should be able to offheal and offDPS in our tanking gear (well apart from the sucky mana pool).

How about "Elixir of Mana Swell" reduces the cost of all spells by 50%. Only works on mana pools <6000. Persists through death for 1hr. Lvl 73 required, etc.

I still don't like the idea of having new required stats added to my gear setup. Let warriors have their Str/Crit and give us our Spell Damage/Int in its stead.

Give HotR a 40% spell damage coefficient like Crusader Strike used to have and I'd be happy.

Anyone else looking at some of the early gear from wotlk and thinking of picking up a few peaces with the strength on it for grinding for the extra damage with the holy shield slap?

The caster plate is almost all missing stamina, while the Tanking plate has no Intellect or Spell Power. These are all Bind-On-Equip items.

Agreed. Altough I could do without the int. Just give me Stam/Spell Damage and i'll be happy. I didn't roll a paladin to wear warrior gear.

I don't see "Class: Warrior" nor "Increases your Rage by X" nor "Increases the damage of your Shield Slam by X" on that gear, thus it's not warrior gear, it's tanking gear.

Or you refused to use any shield beside Illidari Runeshield until now?
