Aoe
ill still carry both im sure, but normally ill favor the single target threat wep since our natural abilities are already more than enough for the side guys. Im not used to 25 mans though were more AOE dps may be present, but normally the side guys arent a threat problem, and the boss is.
im just now getting ready to try some 25's so maybe my opinion will change, but i think threat is going to be off the hook in the xp and we will need to put a ton of it down on the kill target.

Eh, ret pallies aren't going to be using SoR - SoC scales with AP/weapon damage much better, particularly since JoC is based off weapon damage now. And currently in beta no one is doing more damage than ret pallies, so blizzard is still clearly tuning everything.
Someone needs to do some tests and see if consecrate scales with AP- it would be an odd change, mechanics-wise, but if they were really trying to move off away from SP weapons, that'd be the way to do it.
ETA- As for our aoe threat - don't forget salv is gone, and fire mages are becoming heavy aoe specialists. I don't think SP based on stam is going to be enough for serious aoe.
Tankadin since before it was a good idea

Well i can tell you right now from the tests in the seals thread that SoV and SoR are affected by AP-might test, and none of my tests indicate that consecration is.

Will prot pallies have a lot of AP (I'm guessing it'll come from str only)? Enough to make S/JoR worthwhile for tanking?
My bran hurts!

I'm pretty sure they still scale with spell power (or what would holy pallies use?)
But with strength giving much more block value now, strength will buff Shield of Righteousness, Hammer of the Righteous, and our Seals damage. So stacking a decent amount certianly won't hurt.

Maybe, maybe not. That is just speculation at this point. It could put Ret right where the Dev's want them in comparison to other classes. It is a bit early to be making overpowered claims.
That'd still be a lot of additives, though, when you factor in the amount of AP a Ret pally could get, their AP -> SP talent, and the increase in damage to SoR from the T1 Holy talent.
Regarding SoR and other new SP/AP scaling abilities or new coeff.
They need to compensate now the loss of JotC and Sanctity.

JoTC hasn't been lost. The spell damage effect was wrapped into relevant skills according to the patch notes.
Arthas, we're coming for you. (Eventually)
