I think vengeance is just a bandaid that was never put on quite right and has sat there far to long.
Its time for Bliz to hold their breath, rip it off and take a look at how to properly deal with the wound.
If they want to go along the current route where threat doesn't matter then just have it not matter ever, tidy up those AoE burst pulls while at it.

My preferance is to make threat important again and do so in a way that gets rid of vengeance and its gimicks, brings back viable solo tank play and keeps our damage strong without hitting the OP numbers that max vengeance provides.

Another week of 1 runestone by default. This shit is getting reaaaaaalllly old.

The worst part is for a little while I actually entertained the idea of maybe getting this on my main alt. Fuck that.

Thing is tank solotank more or less never was viable. Vengeance didn't help either: you still have no vengeance and do pretty much no single target damage.

yeah, about the best you can do is round up a pile of mobs (good luck if you are in a high-traffic area), and even then it seems like most of the DPS specs are still significantly faster. So 'viable' in as much as 'you do better than a healer', but not 'almost as fast as a DPS spec'. The high-health solo fights in MoP I think made this discrepancy even more glaring... trying to chew through 2.5 M health as a freshly dinged 90 prot pally in 5.0 kinda sucked (recently revisited this with a poorly geared brewmaster). At least with 'kill X Y's' quests you could round up and burn.

Doing the guy that drops the lightning steel quest item on my freshly dinged blood dk took me... many minutes. Even with army.

Worldie wrote:Why exactly would someone refuse the strongest tank cd in game, so strong it had been whined about and nerfed to the ground in WotLK. You remember it? Being able to not use your cooldowns cause "in case I'd die, AD will save me", so you could save them for when AD was already procced.

WHY. For what, 1k haste that you don't even need in SoO gear, and a proc that does shit damage in a ST fight?

Oh but who cares, let's all blame the healers if we die while we're doing so much dps. Ok.

I have the very same feeling. I tried to explain it to a bunch of other french tanks

1st : a dps proc can be replaced by just "more dps" while a cheat death every minute can sometimes change a strategy

2nd : cheat death on tanks during progress is extremely interesting. It can transform all these "tank is dead raid is dead" wipes into valuable tries that last one or two more minutes

There is nothing more annoying than a tank who dies all the time. I have been tanking for 6 years before stopping the game and I can tell that when raid leaders who usually deal with a very solid tank have to switch to something made of paper they go mad very quickly.

the point of a tank is to take a beating and be able to survive it long enough for your healers to heal you for the next one

if a cheat death think is possible, that is the definition of what a tank is for...

dps procs just help kill the boss faster, but the boss aint gonna die without someone to beat on so they arent beating on your dps and healers

I'm satisfied that after talking more with our tanks (and "maybe" with less brutal tones) they both came to reason and agreed if tank death is a danger they'll swiftly invest 10k gold (or whatever the price is going to be) in the tank one.

I must be a colossal idiot because no matter how many guides I read on Simcraft I cannot wrap my feeble mind around it.

I'm hoping that Theck's upcoming "how-to" for the paladin sim is usable by newbies. Haven't really ever used simcraft, no real reason to as a tank or healer.

It's intended to be. Of course, I have to write it first. But it'll basically go from "download the program" to "here's how to interpret the results" and everything in-between.

What frustrates me isn't so much the actual program. I'm not an idiot (although this may seem hard to believe at times) so normally I learn to use things like this quickly. My problem it feels like is my stat weights coming out incorrectly and obviously I don't want to piss away 500 gold on reforges to find out I fucked something up and lost 2500 dps.

Using the A B C D E F grade system where F is failing the class, I normally only get A's and B's. So getting E on one of my exams was a bit of a punch in the gut. :|

We don't get any kind of feedback without sending in a request through the exam office, so I don't even know why. Must've completely misunderstood what the test was asking for, or something. I've sent a request for feedback, but no idea how long these things takes... I need a B average to get into the Master degree I want later, so guess I have to redo my first exam.

IDW is really pissing me off with their constant delays on the MLP comic.

At least the release schedule for More than Meets the Eye is more stable, but that series is worse than crack. As soon as I am done with the new issue, I am already in need of the next hit, next comic.

Also, seriously considering dropping $100 on the Last Stand of the Wreckers Red Label Limited Edition.

So like... there are no guilds out there that raid six hours a week and have decent progression are there (aka not halfway through normal mode)? Wow.

You're back?... try CTR guild, raid groups all over the place, most of them 10-man though.

Not exactly. I'm idly looking. Probably out of boredom. If anything, I just need to find a new hobby to replace WoW.

I think I mostly wanted to be done with the raid leading aspect of it. As I've never actually looked for a guild before, I wondered what the competition was like. And it's slightly frightening that people with double my team's raiding hours have half their progress. I've got very little interest in raiding 12 hours a week and still be stuck on Tortos normal. My desire to commit to more hours than I was doing before is less than zero however.

Makes me proud of my team though. We did quite well. :)

If you can understand a bit of German then we're always looking for new people :)

We raid 9 hours a week though. Progress in the signature.
