Suspect is a Saudi national... but it's the NY Post the one reporting this.

I'm here in Boston and was on my way to the finish line when I was a block or so away from the first blast.

Things are a bit chaotic here to say the least. The undisclosed hospital is Brigham and Women's in the NY Post. ATF, FBI, State Troopers and BPD descended upon it very very quickly.

The reports I'm hearing is 2 confirmed dead and not 12 like the Post says. Injured are over 100 now as many of them are lower limbs being completely torn off. Many have lost either entire legs, legs below the knee or feet. Though, most hospitals have reported that many of the injuries aren't life threatening. Lots of stories already circulating around how people were slightly delayed in getting to or slightly ahead of getting away from the viewing area where the blasts occurred.

The first blast appears to have been inside Marathon Sports which is 50 yards or so away from the finish line. You typically have 4 or 5 people deep behind the barricades trying to get a view where that first blast occurred. They did find 2 other devices that didn't detonate, one of which was under the grand stand for viewers. It could have been much worse had the grand stand device detonated.

I ran back to my work and am holing up here for a bit while the crowds disperse.

Apologies for jumbled post.

Also, hi maintankadin. It's been awhile.

I'm fine. Mentally a little shaken but physically fine. First call responders have done an amazing job frankly. I'm sure people will point fingers soon enough but the people on the scene were calm, collected and brave. It could have been pandemonium as you have masses of people at many points along the race path.

It isn't Al'Qaeda modus operandi though, they tend to go for the high-explosive + nails/ball bearing shrapnel type of IED. From what I've read and heard it was more like a diesel+fertilizer bomb which would be more likely to be placed by some home-grown terrorist, like an anti-government group or white supremacist group.

Just woke up, and saw this all over the news. Not cool at all.

I just hope this doesn't turn into another terrorist witchhunt (Afghanistan, Iraq). Taran Zhu's words to us at the Isle of Thunder applies to both sides in real life:

I see now why your Alliance and Horde cannot stop fighting. Every reprisal is itself an act of aggression, and every act of aggression triggers immediate reprisal.

The cycle ends when you, Regent Lord, and you, Lady Proudmoore, turn from one another. And walk. Away.

Police later stated they have no suspects in custody.

Current numbers appear to be 3 dead, over 140 injured. One of the dead is an 8-year-old boy.

They still seem to be unsure if the fire at the library was related, as they haven't determined what caused it yet.

Two relatives of a close coworker were caught in the first blast and both have lost legs. One is in stable condition while the other remains in critical condition.

The bomb squad did a sweep one hour before runners started coming through and came up with nothing. I hope this will help frame the timeline for authorities in looking at surveillance videos to catch the perpetrator(s).

I had 2 friends that finished right at the 4:08-4:09 mark and said they saw the blasts over their shoulders as they stood with their families/loved ones. It's a very muted and sad day here in Boston. I'm still amazed at the lack of loss of life given the dense conditions. Having trauma trained medical professionals at the finish line most certainly helped.

I made sure to squeeze my wife and boys a bit tighter today in leaving for work. We're a resilient and close knit town so I'm sure we'll get through this but it won't make the grieving any easier.

Your mind can play terrible games with you as you lay in bed. I don't know how many different scenarios I came up with in my head as to what would have put me closer to the blasts.

I just lost a long time friend over this Boston Bombing stuff. She posted some shit about how this is just another example of how the citizens are defenseless in the gun grab that she swears is happening as we speak.

I responded with: Yes. Clearly, a loaded firearm would have stopped those bombs.

And that was that. I've been unfriended, blocked, and I just got a text telling me that I'm a Sheep, primed for slaughter by that ***** in the white house.
Ugh. I swear I thought I had smarter friends than this.

Just remember the UN Treaty reaffirming a sovereign nation's right to have enforce and have their own laws regarding firearms is a direct step towards the UN takeover of the United States.

I had a cousin who posted how we should round up all the Muslims in the US and execute them to show the rest of the world we don't want their kind here.

Just saw what happened to the leg of one of the people injured in the bombing. The terms used by the media, "lost limb" and such, do not begin to describe what happened.

I shouldn't laugh, as what happened yesterday is horrible on many levels, and it's even less good that you lost a friend over this, but you're dead right.

The hell would a loaded gun have helped in that situation? You going to shoot the shrapnel out of the air?

You're a terrible person for making me a terrible person. :x

I had this image of Shoju's troll DK with a gun, yelling "PULL, MON!" and shooting the shrapnel.

I </3 you.
