While he's charging there are definately purple lightning-like squiggles on the ground to one side.

During the maze, the large purple haze can be very confusing - I only really have any luck identifying the right path when the clear solid blocks of purple appear. Means getting uncomfortably close to the beam while waiting sometimes.

I tried to find a graphical example, but no luck. You do know what you're looking for right? From like a video or something?

i saw the squiggly lines on the far away safe zone, not on the near that is right near him.

Even on youtube videos i cannot see it, but i can see the faraway ones on the same videos whenever the camera angle allows it

That's how it happens actually:

Let's say the Beam is 0, and quadrants are counted in the direction he will be going. Quadrant 1 stays empty, Quadrant 2 gets squiggly, Quadrant 3 and further slowly get filled with Eye sores.

When Eye Sores reach point 0, Quadrant 1 is filled with Eye sores, then, a couple seconds later, the squiggly in Quadrant 2 fades, and it gets filled with Sores as well.
When that day comes, seek all the light and wonder of this world, and fight.

Hmmm... the way I saw it, it wasn't like it was the far and away zones that were only covered in them, but rather just the entire SIDE was covered in squiggles. (I'll go double check this.)

But you're saying you can't even see it in youtube videos, which is making me wonder about your eyesight. I had a raider last tier that claimed she had vision problems on certain fights. I honestly thought she was trying to excuse her poor performance (particularly on the spinning discs on Zorlok) but now this is making me wonder if there's a bit more truth to her story. Are some graphics just difficult for people to see? Or is it a colouring thing?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Geqh1T8uaZw scroll to 8:50, I see squiggles covering the entire safe area. Obviously that whole area won't be safe once the maze forms, but it's a pointer as to where to go. I'll admit the further ones are easier to see, but that's because there's a lot of graphic shit going on in melee.

And I don't think the squiggles denote where the safe spot will be when the maze forms - it's just a starting point that will at least not be totally covered in eye sores. In the video I linked it depicts an entire quadrant as being covered in squiggles.

yeah, but still... the melee safe spot seems so crowded with special effects and and the purple haze edges cannot be clearly seen. I could never tell if I was safe or not...

outer edge safe maze? no issues.

Set particle density to low and it's much easier. Bad design indeed... If they had made it green or something it would have been much easier. There are usually 2 "lanes" of safe spots, the outer one is usually easier to follow. The trick is to stay near the beam when you're moving.

Well something that *contrasts* a bit. Deep purple on gray/black is a PITA. I feel like the blind guy in our guild on this phase.

I can't help but feel like there are designers who feel like actually being able to see the challenge should be an integral part of the challenge (see also pre-graphic Ozruk) :P

Well, the blind guy in your guild prolly has an easier time, he's used to not seeing shit longer than anyone else =P

Considering his MO is "macro-target to stab things and/or follow people around", it is quite appropriate.

Given the level of contrast difference, I imagine some color-blind folk are having problems with it as well.

The maze is funny because it's a mechanic that punishes you for actually having a decent computer.

Regardless of what it is, I think it's not unreasonable to ask for better contrast between the shit yer not supposed to step on and the safe spots

The floor could certainly be a few shade lighter.

or the haze could be a different color altogether. It's not the first time a mechanic has had its color changed due to colors. I know it was a cata fight, just cant remember which one.

Also, Blizz has started to delete the LFR Durumu threads. Half of posts in them are trolling, but most of the posts are about issues seeing the maze rather than getting rid of the mechanic.

Or the fact groups insist on wiping to 10 stacks so they can basically just lust and kill it instead of being bothered to actually do the mechanics.

Dumbest addition to the game ever.

Are you arguing that the fight is bad for the game as a whole because LFR can't do it correctly?

I'm saying its bad because someone came up with a mechanic that relies on graphics that the avg person has problem seeing.

show me clearly where not to stand and I wont stand there.

instead, i spent all that phase so squinty eyed I thought I'd turn asian.
