i liked the wrath model of tabards for dungeons...or was that cata?

honestly can't remember if i hated the BC model...probably did but that was a while ago....that being said...many of the items weren't that necessary to raid...they could be nice...but weren't incredibly necessary.

i honestly don't know what the solution is...but i do know that the one they came up with for MOP blows.

also, my girlfriend bought me like three pairs of shoes for christmas. i'm very picky about my shoes because i have wide feet. i had these skechers that i wore into the ground because they fit perfectly. they aren't made anymore. so i've been on a 2 year search to find the perfect fitting shoe...found them....and now i have put holes in the side of them because i have busted the stitching on the outsides. motherfuckers.

Despite potentially sounding like a broken record I still do not see why valor gear had to be tied to reputations aside from forcefully funneling people into dailies.

The hilarious part is back in Wrath and moreso in Cata people were clamoring to either up the daily cap or eliminate it entirely when dailies rewarded nothing but vanity items/titles and everyone loved them. What happened to that? Where did it go so wrong that it has caused such a backlash from the playerbase all of the sudden? Oh right because you have to get the valor and then you have to grind the rep to even use the valor. So instead of just putting a weekly rep cap with tabards or something halfway competent like that it's NOPE GO DO DAILIES LOL!

GC keeps spouting that line of bullshit "we don't want it so you can max reps in a weekend" Well no shit.. but guess who's in control of that.

Yeah, I also proposed allowing rep tabards, but putting a cap on how much you can earn in a week.

I've said it before, no one would complain about the dailies if the VP gear was not tied to reputation.

How they're willfully oblivious to this baffles me -- or rather, disappoints me.

Pretty much like when we talked about Blizz's hiring philosophy, on how they hire people based on whether they believe in blizz' own philosophy/vision of the game -- and how it can lead to echo chamber issues when it comes to managing/developing.

New toon hits 90 in 5.2. Can get: Crafted gear at 476 and 496 and new crafted gear at new raid level (though likely to be harder to get and expensive). BoE raid drops (e.g. bracers from HoF; no longer needed so much by raiders, they'll show up on AH more). New Valor gear higher ilevel than launch gear given by newest rep faction (and judging by 5.1 factions, not so long a grind to reach Revered). Sha of Anger, Galleon (with his new increased spawn rate), and two new, most likely faceroll, world bosses - one of which will probably drop T15 gear. They also have access to many LFR instances.

With most people no longer grinding the many rep factions that came in 5.0 on their mains, and capping valor more quickly through instances, more alts will start to show up, and the early LFRs will still see enough action. (I have loads of free time in game now that I don't need to do dailies at all.)

So people are still bitching that they feel they have to get valor gear?
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

The feeling that only half the raid group gives a sh*t about doing stuff, while busting my @$$ off to get a deathknight geared through rep, dailies, vp etc so we can actually raid, despite wanting to be on my hunter - watching the dps drop whenever I have to tank because I'm inevitably replaced by the lowest dps'er in the group, and seemingly not progressing, rather regressing.

At this point, I am no longer predictingw e will end up as a feeder guild, unless people shape up and pull themselves together, we won't have enough people to form raids in a month (which will mean we have no tanks if I'm not mistaken - and can only be understanding of that).

At t his point all I do in the game is VP cap on 2 characters, just to be the best I can be for the raidgroup, and it sucks tbh.

Yeah, sure I screwed up roday (forgot to turn on blood presence after spirit kings) which casued a few deaths (of me) on trash and a wipe on elegon.
After that we just didn't have the dps - after easily clearing the dps checks last time (where I was dpsing on the hunter).

*sigh*

And now the other tank has left the raidgroup "to go casual" - meaning that my low attendance is a real problem (the attendance that had me switching from tank to dps to begin with this expansion) our sunday raid I can come to, then the next week I can't - meaning we have to figure something out in 4 days or cancel a full week of raids - it really sucks (especially because I want to work for the group, since we do have raiders that care and want to raid - and as a RL I feel responsible for doing everything I can to get these raids up and going...)

argh!

(If anyone knows 1 tank and 1 or maybe 2 good dps that would come co-tank with Sagara, respectively co-dps with me and some other great people, now is the time to let either of us know)

i would be fine with that

even if you made the tabards purchasable at like honored (not revered, cause what would be the point then) you would still get ppl to SEE the content, but they wouldnt be facing a 3-4 hr grind each day

if the rep was tied to just tmog gear, or vanity items like pets/mounts/banners that would be awesome!
i would be doing dailies constantly cause it would be something i WANT to do, and WANT to get...not something i felt i had to do in order to not hold back my raid group
as is, because i am so burnt out doing dailies as it is, i feel my horde guild is carrying me just a little
as in, i have maybe 461 ilvl, counting my dps gear..well did before i got the polearm

That's sort of meaningless without more information. I can do 250k DPS on my paladin given the right encounter. And there are logs of paladins doing over 1.2 MILLION DPS on heroic Wind Lord. Does that mean paladins are OP?

It was in scarlet monastery, a dungeon where i can normally pull 45-50k dps if i'm lucky... this monk tank came in and did 90k+ dps in the same heroic...

I dunno, but that seriously demoralized me along with pissing me off.

It's fairly easy to hit 100k dps on a large hard hitting AoE pull in 5 men with any tank class :)

Yeah, I've done over 300k on the trash before the penultimate boss in Siege of Nuizao Temple. Pretty easy with cooldowns.

Can you keep 90K+ dps for the whole instance?

Some pulls I can do big numbers as well, but no way I can keep it overall --- like I said, most damage overall i've done in Scarlet Monastery has been 45-50K and being a tank, I'm more concerned with not dying and controlling everything... but it seems that monk tanks can do the same and also do obscene dps at the same time.

The monk tank in the guild can keep up with my dps or do more and he's nowhere near me when it comes to gear. And he can still rip off the targets off of me with a keg smash.

I know I'm not the best player, but I am insanely hard to kill, unless I screw up badly, I'm one of the last ones in the raid to die, sometimes the last one, and can survive without a healer for a while.

So, I either suck or monks are just...

If you are only in combat (i.e. skada is tracking your damage) during large trash pulls, chain-pulling mobs and bloodlusting bosses away/attacking them with a huge vengeance stack, I bet it is possible. Keg smash is ridiculous, though.

5 mans are a terrible metric for... well anything.

You can easily get to, and maintain, obscene vengeance levels if you pull large groups and pull them quickly coupled with cds. The difference in tank DPS numbers can be night and day because of vengeance.

That's the only thing that keeps 5 mans "fun" for me, seeing how high I can get my vengeance and how long it can stay at those levels. I'll even pull very large packs on top of bosses just so I can dps MORE.

From everything I have seen in raid settings tank damage is relatively close between equally geared/skilled/vengeanced players regardless of class. Although SNAP aoe threat from Keg Smash is a bit ridiculous as well as the ability to spam dizzying haze.

TLDR Try pulling more stuff.

Nope, I agree that our snap AoE aggro needs a (significant) buff. Removing the Meteor mechanic from HW would be a start, that was only introduced to try and take it out of the Ret AoE rotation back in WotLK IIRC.

I actually specced into Holy Prism because you suggested it a while back. I just have it macroed to target me first, so it can hit all the mobs around with the damage part (unless its a single boss, in which I have it hit the boss first and heal those around me)

I don't suppose you have that macro to hand do you? I tried Holy Prism out but found it annoying with targeting it.

Not at all.

I really like HP on a couple of raid encounters (anything where I'm not trying to greed dps with ES or don't need LH to help with long periods of AoE healing) and sometimes for trash or dungeons.

The five target limitation is what keeps it from being in the class of something like Keg Smash for AoE threat imo.

Edit: Frustration - Didn't raid at all the week of Christmas which I'm ok with but we missed one night the week before and again last night because of attendance. Our Shaman up and quit and people are appearing to lose interest, if this guild dies I think I'm going to hang up my raiding gloves, I don't want to start over with a new guild/server/faction again.

On teh aoe threat, Sagara is better geared than me, and I still peel off packs even when waiting a few seconds through Outbreak and double Blood Boil (talented to spread diseases) - paladin aoe threat needs a buff, no doubt about it.
