And on bosses like that, which knock holes in your attack stream, I probably wouldn't consider SoV.

But they aren't an overwhelming majority from the little bit I've seen.

Attumen and Midnight can be hit continuously.
Moroes can't.
Maiden can't - but pretty darn close. I think she could be SoV-tanked.
Tinhead can't because you kite him. (Or at least, I do.)
Crone can as long as you avoid the tornado which isn't hard.
Romulo can.
The Curator can.

5-man bosses generally can, except Murmur, Bladefist and the guy at the end of Blood Furnace (and I'm sure I've forgotten one or two).

I certainly don't mean to suggest that we should yank SoR off our hotbars and become Vengeance junkies. But I do think we've allowed the fact "Holy Vengeance doesn't always stay on" to mutate into the pseudofact "Seal of Vengeance always doesn't generate enough threat". That, comrades, deserves a closer look.

On any boss where I know I'll be able to get a stack up there (i.e. not moroes) I use SoV. I start out with SoR until I get a good amount of threat and then switch to SoV, and it's worked fine for me so far :)

Now Maiden can, especially if you're BoSac'ing a Holy Paladin to keep you up between Consecrates. Her Repentance doesn't stun the MT anymore.

That's wonderful news. I hated wondering if I was going to snap out of Repentance before she cleansed the impurity of one of my healers.

SO...I reworked my sim, using a 20% resist rate for the notional bad guy on top of all the other assumptions.

Out of 60 five-minute trials...

The worst had an average stack of 3.38.
The best had an average stack of 4.70.

The mean stack was 4.10 with a sample standard deviation of 0.336.

That indicates...
* You can expect your average stack to be 3.32 or better, 99% of the time.
* You can expect your average stack to be 3.06 or better, 99.9% of the time.

That's without the significant help we get from Reckoning, and without the almost-insignificant help we get from our parries.

Does andone has a clue, why it ticks for more than 30 wil NO Spelldmg equipped?! Also Crusader Judgement almost hast no fucking effect... that really fucks me up right now :evil:


You probably have 1H weapon spec, which increases dmg by 5%.

0 spell dmg => 150 expected dmg * 1.05 = 157.5 dmg
199 spell dmg => (150 exp. dmg + 0.17*199) * 1.05 = 193.0215

You just illuminated me... the whole threat is for the dogs now... i just wasn't able to multiplicate 30 * 5 correctly... thought it should be 120. Damn :oops:

don't happen to have the new 1handed proficincy talent now do you ?

the one that increases all damage by 5%

which would technically increase your 30 spell damage per tick by 1.5 damage ?

it would explain the numbers
