Since Xanthira mentioned me by name in her welcoming post I thought it would be nice to actually appear on the site as a legit member other than a browser.

Anyhow long time reader, and definitely a person that has sought out help and advice on this site more than once. Now I have tanked on a warrior for a bit back during Vanilla Wow and decided during BC I wanted to give the pally a swing at tanking and have fallen in love with them ever since. Tanked on a prot pally from lvl 1 to lvl 80, went through some of the vanilla wow, main tanked for Kara and ZA, and off tanked for a hyjal and one bt-a couple of times after the nerf to those raids. Ran through every heroic instance at 80, (I particulary hate Heroic Old Kingdom since it exploits what I believe a prot pallies weakness).

During wrath I have mained tanked for our guild throughout Naxx except for some areas. Thats pretty much it.

I'm Maciej, I'm from Poland. I created my first wow acc in 2006, but after my trial time expired I decided to give up with wow. Honestly I didin't really want this, as I knew it was gonna end in another addiction. Well.. after some time my rl pack of friends started playing and they were so evil not to give me too much choice and eventually I got hooked in (June 2008) so... here I am, finally posting. :D

When I was oryginaly going to give it a try, I wanted to play human mage. But... first thing that happen, my firend was horde, so I picked undead(not like I don't like UD, I love them and Tirisfal). Second thing, when I was like lvl8 things started to bore me, so I quit.
When I got back in 2008 I rolled paladin and everything changed. My true love thrived. That was retribution paladin which I leveled to level 54 and that was quite high level for me back then :P, but I decided to move to another server in order to play with much more rl friends and start over.
So I ended on EU Burning Steppes server with my humbly growing paly (horde, prot since level 1, currently level 78). As my alt char I rolled also paladin. People ask questions and wonder. Well... I'm at privileged stage of the game that alow me to enjoy leveling, especially playing paladin, so I see no reason why not to roll him again. My first one is going to serve me as tank/holy, second one which I play from time to time, just for fun, eventually will be my pve dps/pvp char :) Thanks to dual spec.
I see a lot of people treating leveling as some kind of boring necessity, which I understand, but I think this is a bad thing! Some day I may become that kind of player too, everything eventually start to bore, but as long as I enjoy questing and leveling I will do so!

I'm a kind of guy who, before doing something, like to know things, so I was googling a lot of stuff I needed, mostly about items, quests and sometimes talent builds and theretical stuff. I also used blizzard forums to find recommended sources of knowledge. One way or another I found Maintankadin. I've been luring here for quite a while, hungry for datazzz. I think this is the best source of information about paladin tank.

Today I decided to register. Unfortunetaly, as a newbie (both in gameplay and in theorycrafting) I propably won't be able to improve this board with usefull information, but at least I can let you know I'm here sneaking for dataz and tell you guys that you are great and you are doing huge chunk of a good job :D.

One more thing guys. Tell me if these home-made wings, a cheap imitatins of the oryginal ones, won't bring shame to maintankadin. I didin't want just to steal them from someones avatar or something, so I made mine in paint :D.
PS. I am aware of the fact my English isn't perfect, thank you for understanding.
Please keep crying, your tears make excellent polish for my prot gear.
Tank you.

Finally time for me to introduce myself.

I've been reading the forum for ... one year maybe, registered last september, but since English isn't my native language I never had the guts to step in one conversation.

A fellow tankadin introduced me to those new forums, at the time I played a Holy priest. Then, by reading the forum you guys made me fancy the prot pally, and there I am, a maintankadin in some random raiding guild !

I really enjoy all this, you guys made me really enjoy the game as a paladin, and keep up the good mood in this excellent board !

I've been lurking here long enough (and before that I was even registered on Gestalt's old guide site) that it's high time I introduced myself.

I've been a protection paladin ever since my first talent point in Vanilla WoW. I first started playing in May of '06, long after most of my real life friends and guild mates were 60 but still well enough before BC to see plenty of old content and be told time and again if I was protection I didn't know what I was doing. They were half right - I put my first point in Improved Devotion Aura back before it was considered a good idea.

I quickly respecced that singular point to Redoubt once I started figuring things out. And before Gestalt's guide, I really did feel like I was on my own fumbling my way through things. A lot of it was trial and error for me, since I was the only prot paladin I knew.

Back in Vanilla I managed to tank Scholo and Dire Maul (in addition to lower instances as I was grinding to 60), but with so many odds stacked against me and being a relative newcomer to theorycraft I didn't accomplish much more than that until BC, when the combination of our class changes, Gestalt's original guide, and Zoe's guide to being Uncrushable enabled me to eventually become my guild's progression tank for Karazhan. I moved on to joining the tanking corps of a fantastic raid alliance among several allied guilds (Digren's my tank lead, btw, and the only other raiding prot paladin I came to know in the first few months of BC - of course that changed over time) and we managed to make great progress into Tier 6 content prior to 3.0.

That said, I consider myself a casual, but very dedicated raider. My wife also plays (elemental shammy is her main).

This site has been a godsend and it's been fantastic to see it grow with new members. I became concerned during the period of time prior to the release of Wrath when there seemed to be many doomsayers about, but overall I'm impressed and grateful by how this site has remained rational and constructive in the sea of misinformation and trolling that a WoW player (and a protection paladin in particular) must often navigate.
Prot specced since May 2006.

Not so much an "I'm new here" but an "I'm here again!"

Back in tBC I was my guild's main tank, though my guild was primarily limited to 10-man raids I did the occasional 25-man as a tank with a friend who was in one of the leading guilds on the server.

When WotLK went live, I was mezmerized by Death Knights and the promise of a limitless resourse along with a closer blending of a DPS role and a Tanking role (specifically the ability to change Presences and how a tank specced DK could actually put out half-way decent DPS).

Over the course of the last year or so I have not only become less enchanted by what a DK brings to the table, but that I was and just am a plain better tank as a Paladin. That combined with many changes including Protection Paladins getting a massive overhaul and the addition of the dual spec function have caused what few reasons I chose a DK over a Paladin nullified.

So I've brought Alixander, my Paladin tank out of retirement and gotten him up to 80 and am gearing him up in prep for raiding with him again. So I'm back!

Hello everyone,

I've been lurking here since about 6 weeks before WoLK and I figured I should say Hello. I have been playing WoW since December 2007. I started on a 10-day trial account and was hooked. I was capped at level 20, in just a few days. I had to go buy the full game. :D

I wanted to say a big "THANK YOU" to all the great work that has been done by the members of this forum. It has really helped me and some of my fellow tankadins, on the Arygos server.

I can be found as Tarl on the Arygos-US server if anyone finds themselves on there.

Thanks again,

Hello from a dwarf ( Vek'nilash )

Hey everyone,

I ve been lurking and learning for a while around the forums, thought I d drop a line to say hello and thank everyone who's keeps this great community alive, sharing their skills and knowledge with noobz like myself :P

JUST made it to dual spec Ret/Prot and only 71 so that allows me another 9 levels to learn what tanking really is about in WoW and work on my talent trees. I played EQ1 (Karana>Rathe>Antonius Bale) from beta to around 07 high end content, raiding, guild leader and raid leader, I never will be a hardcore player again but regardless I love WoW and want to learn to play as a decent tank and dps.

keep on tanking !

Hey everyone,

Hey folks! New to the forums not to the game. However I do have to say that I do not have a Paladin as of yet.. Actually I am making one here tonight. After a much needed break from the game, I thought it would be nice to try something different for awhile. Hope I can be of some use as I get more familiar with the Paladin. I'm sure Ill be budding with questions as the time goes on but no worries I know how to use the search function.

Anyway, Cya around. Take care and happy hunting!

Just wanted to introduce myself. My main spec is actually a Healadin, but as soon as I get that speced up enough my off spec is Prot. I tanked all the way up to 80, but as soon as I hit heroics I found myself a much better geared healer than tank. Eventually though I would love to get into a tank role. I play on Kirin Tor US and am in Pig and Whistle, so if you ever see me online feel free to send me a tell, especially if you need a healer for something!

First off, thank you everyone for the thorough work you do. Here, I can get high quality and timely information without having to deal with EJ type attitudes.

A human Pally was my first toon in vanilla and I leveled him as holy since I reasoned if he could heal himself better it would be harder to kill him. Of course it was harder killing anything else either. I finally hit 60 about 2 months before BC hit and when the restructure of talents hit I respecced prot and have been that way ever since.

I am now in a steady 10 man raid team (horde side) that raids once a week for 2.5 hours. I know that is very different from what most of you do but it works for our schedules. Since time is limited for us, it is important that everyone does their homework so that we can be as efficient as possible.

Fortunately I have you guys. Thanks again.

Hi everyone,

I've been reading this forum for quite some time and I have employed alot of the strategies I've learned here on my warrior. I recently rolled a paladin and figured I should start contributing to the community. I look forward to seeing you on the battle field.

Well hello! I've found this website because I am in desperate need of information. I'm a huntard, and a very experienced player (BC raider), but I've never had a pally nor tanked for that matter. Recently a friend quit and gifted me his account, his main happend to be a tankadin. I came here because I want to raid with this toon in our alt raids, etc and I know nothing about pallies much less protection ones. So I need to learn everything from scratch.

I look forward to working with you guys. =]

I've been reading a little while - my "main" is a gnome arcane mage but I like my tankadin so much that the mage hardly gets a look in. My pally is currently 84 and has been specced Prot from scratch, and has been levelled 99% tanking in dungeons (with the occasional battleground lately).

Now I'm getting close to reaching 85 and the real fun started, I wanted to learn all the stuff I need to know and here seems to be the best place to do it :)
