Pretty sure she doesn't need any help there. Even if she'd been ambivalent before, we went and killed her personal handmaiden and Illidan envoy, and then we went back in time to kick her around too. I'm sure she'll remember us.

We are talking about the Night Elf who thought Sargeras wanted to marry her here.

Kaldorei were Kaldorei even before the Sundering. The Priesthood, Elune, all of the things were there. The Highborne were just a group of the Night Elves.
And no, she didn't just want to marry him, she was deeply convinced that he would marry her - because she was so in love with herself that it was natural that everyone else loved her. Mannoroth was laughing a bit privately about that.

Hello thread!

I sure wouldn't mind a Dark Below undersea expansion. Obviously it couldn't all be under water, considering the negative reaction Vashj'ir got - but I, for one, loved that zone! Combat was kind of frustrating, but I loved the ambience of the zone. I did Hyjal for completionist purposes, but every other alt went through Vashj, and if I ever return to this game, I suspect every future alt will as well! Vashj'ir and Zangarmarsh were my favourite zones, in terms of aesthetics and ambience.

As for new classes, I don't want any more. I don't mind new races, because that's mostly just aesthetic choices, but more classes means more balancing - and the more classes you have to balance, the harder it is to make them all feel unique. I was more than happy with the amount of classes from Classic, and after allowing Paladins/Shamans on both sides it was all good. Death Knights were a little awkward at first, but eased in over time - then Arthas went down and things got a little awkward again. I quit before MoP so I don't know anything about monks, but I'm sure that'll work out too.

My point, anyway (from somewhere in there), is that the more classes you add, the higher the danger of homogenization and balance issues. I'd rather just have more races and more professions. I think it's time for a new profession. Mason, anyone? Our cities keep getting ruined, don't they. How about dog walker? I'm sure all those stabled hunter pets could use the exercise.

Sorry about the double post, but I went back reading the rest of this thread and Newsom's post and links (below) got me all excited! I would love that idea. :D

N'zoth could very much be a possibility. He is said to be sleeping in the sunken city of Ny'alotha (obviously R'lyeh) which also has connection to the Emerald Dream/Nightmare. Possible location?

There's also the theory that Azeroth itself is named after/encased by an old god (see Azathoth) which is why Azeroth is so important to the titans. (Edit: found the article! It's a good read.)

Well, it's quite likely that one way or another we'll be going to go fight fish-lips herself, and add in an old god for good measure, since, well, every main story has their influence now.

Races? I think we'll just get the updated character models.

Professions? Likely nothing new, just the MoP style BS speedup applied to the rest.

I do wonder what new things they'll do to hold our attention?

Updated character models is gold worth, imo.

Think we'll see any new race/class combinations? My inner lore geek is fighting a battle with my lust for more Horde paladin races.

the only one i could actually stomach being paladin is undead..because they are mostly raised humans (the original paladin race) and there is precedent in sir zelek

orcs and trolls wouldnt have the discipline, and typically dont serve the light in any form (troll priests get their power from the loa)
goblins? pfft goblin shamans and warlocks make sense because they make deals with demons/elementals ...though there are goblin priests so..

Goblins and Gnomes are sort of irrelevant for me, I just can't enjoy playing them. I made several attempts in my time, but I always either delete or race change them. :(

As for lore, to me a Goblin paladin would feel way worse than a Forsaken paladin. Orcs/Trolls as paladins have reached a stalemate in my brainparts - between not being appropriate lore-wise, but being awesome character-wise. I wants me a Troll paladin.

i can see possibly a troll/orc paladin, but they would have to be fricken rare and i would say NPC only. the average troll and orc just dont have the mind set for a paladin

I'd like some more insight into the differences of the Light that priests access, and the Light that paladins access - seeing as all races (I think?) can be priests.

I want them to take Goblins and Gnomes out of the game. That would be a v6.0 change I would really go for.

I would also really, really like it if some humans defected to the Horde because they can't abide the nelfs and their arrogant prissiness. I really miss being a human (in game - out of game I don't), but I can't take dwarves, gnomes and nelfs.

There. I feel all better now I've had a mini-rage. :)

Era wrote:I'd like some more insight into the differences of the Light that priests access, and the Light that paladins access - seeing as all races (I think?) can be priests.

it depends on the race, and not all races can be priests btw *cough*orcs*cough*. for example, tauren priests and paladins worship the sun and get their power from the sun, the nelf priests worship the moon, Elune, trolls worship the Loa (same as troll druids), and i believe everyone else is just the light

gnomes learned priesting from humans, dwarves, and draenei, goblins i dont know where they got it from, but i am sure they had some worship all along (it is one of those basic needs of humanoids - there will always be hot head warriors, and there will always those that worship)

the way i look at it is that to be a priest - you just worship and do it enough you can be a priest
to be a paladin, you have to give your life to the light and let it infuse with you.

remember that the original order of the silver hand paladins were clerics from northshire abbey, and thus were priests that felt the call to give more to the light and go into combat.

edit: note this is based just off the lore i remember off the top of my head and personal theories

The Light is actually specific to Humans, Dwarves, Gnomes and High Elves. Might include Worgen now that I think of it, since they're basically Humans, but cursed. Haven't played a Worgen yet, so not sure if anything in their starting area tells anything about it. Night Elves get it from Elune, the Moon goddess. Draenei used the Naaru as their source IIRC, and Pandaren probably use the celestials.

On the horde side, Tauren use the Sun god (which is related to Elune) and Trolls use the Loa. Blood Elves used captured and corrupted Naaru for their Paladin powers, right? Can't recall if they also used it for Priests.

Not exactly sure what source Forsaken use. I kinda doubt it's the light, even though they're former humans and high elves. And goblins probably made a deal with some Elder God for their powers.

Forsaken and the Light is really interesting, although there doesn't seem to be a lot of canon lore on it.

I particularly love the bit you get from the priest trainer in Deathknell, the forsaken starter area. I think bldavis mentioned this somewhere as well; the undead wielding the light starts regaining some of their senses - like taste and smell, and thus taste/smell their own rotting flesh. Grisly, yet wonderful, wouldn't you agree? ^^

Still, can't find any lore on how they're able to wield the light, just fan speculation. I'm fairly torn between what I'd love the most, a forsaken, orc or troll paladin!
I'll be severely brought down if we end up with goblin and/or panda paladins though. :(
