It sounded like the 5.4 PTR should be up soon, so we'll know the "unannounced feature" long before BlizzCon.

Yep, this.

Methinks that news will be slim at blizz con unless they have the new wow expac to announce. Glad I didn't buy a ticket, since Titan and the wow expac are the only things I'd be interested in.

edit: Burning Crusade, announced at Blizzcon 2005.
Wrath of the Lich King, announced at Blizzcon 2007.
Cataclysm, announced at Blizzcon 2009.
Mists of Pandaria, announced at Blizzcon 2011.

The odds are pretty good.

Odds are all pretty goddamn good we're gonna hear they're planning the beta for the new xpack immediatly after Blizzcon, with free invites in every goodie bag.

Seeing they also said they want to reduce the amount of time between expansions from 2 years to 1.5, it's possible they will announce next WoW exp.

Considering the drop-off in subs, and that Titan is off the table now, they pretty much have to.

If they didn't, and all they gave players after Garrosh was dead is rerunning old content at level, I'd be willing to bet the playerbase would be reduced by at least a third before the next expac hits, perhaps more.

They can't wait until Blizzcon to announce the expansion unless they're planning a very accelarated beta testing process. With Blizzcon in November, if they followed normal schedules after announcing it, we'd be killing Garrosh for a year.

5.3 has been out what..2 months now?
means we should expect 5.4 in august or september, if they announce the next xpack and have the same kind of beta mop had...that is a year of garrosh and raiding ogr...
so either they annouce it early and talk about the main features at blizzcon, or they have a fast beta...
either way i see beta codes being in goodie bags

what else would there be to talk about besides the wow expansion?
D3 expansion maybe...
too early for SC2 second expansion,
hearthstone will prob be out by then
so maybe blizzard all-stars

The beta will probably be underway by BlizzCon. The expansion will definitely have been announced by then. Remember, Mists of Pandaria was by far the most developed expansion at its announcement, which came one month before Dragon Soul was released. This one will be a couple months after the release of 5.4.
