My mage buddy is confused what he'd do with it too. For my druid though, I'd be happy with a third spec for the rare times I play the healbot (usually guardian/feral).

I think a third spec would be awesome. Not because I'm going to use all three specs that much, but I haven't tried out Windwalker for Storm, Earth and Fire yet because I don't want to mess up my BM and MW keybinds. Might as well give Druids four while they're at it. And Shamans too, along with their tank spec.

honestly some toons i would love it on, others i couldnt care less about
mage - sure then i could have one of each
druid - would love this, though it would be a pain gearing tank, kitty, and tree specs
shaman - maybe if we get a tanking tree, other wise im happy with enh/resto
hunter - meh im good with surv/bm unless it becomes like ArPen MM at the end of wrath
lock - with tanking tree? oh please!
rogue - i might do pvp again..
dk - questing blood, raiding blood, and raiding frost/uh sounds good to me!

as for the rest...meh
i might try holy on one of my 4 pallies (ty ami for helping me realize that..and all 4 are prot too)

it mostly would depend on if we got new trees as well or just a third spec, and hoe expensive it would be (iow how many days of dailies would it take to pay for)

Levie:Drunk Lev goes and does what he pleases just to annoy sober Lev.

Shamans will never get a tank spec as that might actually hint at the idea that we're actually useful.

In cata, I had 3 max level pally tanks, all DS geared.

In wrath, I had 2 pally tanks, 1 warrior and 1 dk tank.

Third spec even for a 1-spec player means 3 glyph setups with no need for Tomes ever.

Priests will be overjoyed about this.

Unless I decided to add a Ret spec to my prot/pvp prot Paladin (unlikely), I can't see myself having any use for a 3rd spec. I've never even had any interest in a second spec on my current main.

(Of course, if specs somehow also included different gem and reforge setups on the same gear, it'd be an entirely different matter. I could set up a Mastery spec with Unleashed Fury and a Haste spec with Primal Elementalist, for example. But that'll never happen.)

And of course, with 3 hunters specs, 2 would be gimped a bit unless I want to fly back to reforge after every swap.. >.>

The 3 spec thing is a great idea. Remember this allows you to set up your bars (even if only slightly) and use different talent/glyph set ups. Some will never make use of it, but others will. Now if they'd increase the number of macro slots....

Man

what's the point of even having specs if you can just be whatever you want, whenever you want. It's not like it was even a big deal any more; drop combat, respec.

They're lucky they're adding a whole bunch of new pets to keep me distracted or I may be forced to make a pointless post moaning about the good ol days and how Blizzard has become completely misguided and WoW has lost its sense of wonder.

I know things change and stuff, but I sort of chuckled as I remember blizzard's stance on a third spec...vehemently stating no, it'd never happen because they're already leary enough about having a dual one.

Well, talents then were *much* different from talents now.

Back then, having players abuse talent respec for gimmick fights was a problem, because not everyone had that freedom (tanks and healers who wanted a DPS spec had one of each, while DPSers could make an "AoE" spec and a "single target" spec). Right now, it's almost expected to switch talents on a fight-by-fight basis.

I've no burning desire to add a holy string to my bow and I generally carry a stack of reagents to swap talents/glyphs on the fly.Only people I can see benefiting from this are priests who absolutely have to have both healing specs and still wanna solo stuff.
Be careful when you argue with trolls, lest you become one.

I'm pretty much with ya on that Ulushnar. I have no desire for a holy spec and it's not that hard to just swap a few talents/glyphs.

Maybe the third spec is intended only for druids.

Or maybe it might be extremely expensive to buy.

Yeah, the old argument against tri-spec (that it makes people switch around too much from fight to fight) is kinda dead with the new talent system where you are totally expected to switch around talents and glyphs from fight to fight.

TBH I think they should take it one step further and allow unlimited number of different specs at a time, but each extra "slot" costs an exponentially increasing amount of gold to unlock. (So something like 50g first, 250g second, 1250g third and so on, or 50g/1000g/20000g if you want most chars to stay at 3.)

Another idea would have been to make *spec change* available on the fly as well, but with glyphs and talents remaining unmodified (i.e. you have to change all the talents and glyphs you want to change as well).

With something like that, there would be no point in dual/triple/omni spec anyway.
