Re: The World of Warcraft Poll
According to my account history, mid Vanilla. However I only played for a few months (got to about lv35ish) before I had a long break and came back mid TBC. Took me until a few months before Wrath to get to 80, and didn't start raiding until Cata. In fact, DS is my first tier of "real" raiding.
So the facts say Vanilla but in reality I'm also a bit of a Wrath/Cata baby too.

Re: The World of Warcraft Poll
I went into GameStop in April'07 and bought the game, Vanilla only as the salesman insisted I would never buy another Xbox360 game again. I originally joined after a friend's kids talked me into it.
I levelled both the tank and the mage, alternating days and got to lvl 58 by that October despite having no clue. Then I took a 2-3 month break until my firend from work (the kids' dad) started playing on a different server. So I levelled the healer on that server. Then at about lvl 58 I xfered the other two over and eventually got all to 70 prior to Wrath. I went from Ret-mutt to Holy at 68 since I couldn't get a group invite as a non-healy Pally. I raided Kara and some ZA pre nerf (Healer only), but we were a casual guild on a RP-PVP server and we took the RP fairly seriously, having mandatory guild meetings at random places in the world with vent in character. I still retain a few RP items for use in such events despite them collecting dust in my bank.
I remember my first couple of Arena matches, I had just started using Healbot less than a week prior and wasn't used to it yet, so I would sometimes click the ability on my bar and then click healbot (instead of portrait healing). I accidentally healed the warrior carrying me several times instead of dispelling him, lol. It wasn't until a Warlock helped me adjust my spec that I began to do research on my own.
I loved the old world for its dangers and mysteries. The outdoor elites (such as the Ogres in Strangelthorn) and even souped up raid bosses (like the Ranger Lord in Eastern Plagues, or the dude in the graveyard, even Patches was a terror) wandering about pounding people. Getting ganked was sometimes frustrating, but it was awesome when high level Alli toons would respond to cries of help and fight back.

Started May 22, 2007 for me. I rolled a troll priest while I downloaded BC, then rolled my first main, a blood elf mage. Petrus began somewhere in July '07 but didn't hit 70 until February '08, and I've been more or less a fulltime tank ever since, and my mage quickly got relegated to alt status.

You mean Stitches, the abom in Duskwood? I always enjoyed trying to solo him with each of my toons. Very rarely did I succeed, but it was fun

Yes, stitches. I tried to solo him on my mage at lvl 35. OK, I wasn't the best player back then , but once my CDs wore out and he was still up, he ran me down and pawned me lol. Even on a tank he hit HARD. I sortof like his current incarnation in the phased quest, he still hits fairly hard so if you pull aggro off the NPCs you usually get pawned.

Stitches never making it to town when I did the quests previously was always disappointing. The new quest is how I always imagined it to be.
We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

my fondest memory from my first few months (and the reason i fell in love with a tankadin in the first place) was seeing this huge abom and going I AM A WARRIOR OF THE LIGHT HE SHALL BE ABOLISHED (ok ok it was more OOO i wonder if i can kill that!)
soloed him at 26 for the first time
never felt so powerful, and when i tried to do a follow up kill on my hunter, i realized just how much a tank could take and keep ticking

Brekkie:Tanks are like shitty DPS. And healers are like REALLY distracted DPS
Amirya:Why yes, your penis is longer than his because you hit 30k dps in the first 10 seconds. But guess what? That raid boss has a dick bigger than your ego.
Flex:I don't make mistakes. I execute carefully planned strategic group wipes.

I'm not too surprised to see most of the active posters coming from Vanilla/TBC.
We should need a way to direct the younger and inexperienced breed here.

Feb 2007, TBC, I started out as a mage, got bored of the DPS scene and rolled my tankadin.

Most of the new people flock to MMO-C and are fed that Maintankadin and EJ don't know what they're talking about, lol.
