Not trying to start something, but I feel like while SJW in itself is fairly benign (pointing out gender-related issues and complain about it on the Web? Meh.) the most extremists of SJW (and I'll leave where I draw the line unspoken for OBVIOUS reason of peace in this house) have done much to discredit the entire line of thought.

Also, a bit like some of the GamerGaters have been pushing the line way too far (and typically use it to push their own agenda). Horseshoe theory much?

So I decided to finally take a look at what started that whole thing and get an idea what it's about, and after finding and reading "The Zoe Post" I now just feel awful about participating in the violation of someone's privacy, particularly when it's just a transparent attempt to victimise someone out of hurt feelings.

In retrospect reading that chatlog is as bad as seeking out the stolen nude celebrity photographs that are going around at the moment. It's morally unjustifiable. I'm going to go back to wilfully ignoring this whole thing, and take that as a lesson not to seek out such obvious bullshit in future.

i dont think anyone here is saying The Zoe Post was justifiable. it does not mean it was not helpful in triggering a valid criticism of the state of the gaming "press".

It's ok. Some people just find it amusing, but really, people might be better off not knowing about it at all

Another game I occasionally play held a random drawing of characters for a free gift.

They drew five names.

I won twice (with three eligible characters out of a pool of 135.)

Funny thing is, I had no idea this drawing was taking place... I read about it on a fb post after the fact.

To be fair, TBC and Wrath were both very alliance-focused expansions.

Not really. BC was very heavy on the Horde sides with the Blood Elves, Kael'Thas's role in the whole thing, the Sunwell. Also Garrosh.

As for #GamerGate. Zoe Quinn is irrelevant. I couldn't give two shits about her, but I am tired of this moronic game media and if media at large wants to support them by calling us misogynists...well let's just say you've pissed against a hurricane.

The first sign of corrupt gaming media was IGN when they were giving Bioware a blowjob over Mass Effect 3

Amusingly, Kal'Regaar and FemShep will probably be discussing GamerGate over coffee...

They were doing so since Mass Effect 2.

True, but Kael'thas and the blood elves closely relate to the alliance plot, seeing as they had a pretty huge role on their side during WC3

I actually wonder if Metzen knows how to write "good" guys. He's with IDW writing Transformers. He got tasked to do a series of 3 mini-series about the early conflict of the autobots and the decepticons. Optimus comes out as pretty bland, and Megatron almost feels like a Villain Protagonist cuz he just steals the spotlight, and even feels heroic at times.

So, I wonder if Metzen is just incapable of not being a shill for characters you'd traditionally consider bad guys.

Metzen can write now? After what he did to Mengsk in Heart of the Swarm and Wings of Liberty, along with all the shitty writing he's introduced in WoW I think his writing skills have gone down the drain.

I mean do people remember this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6bVj-nTkiU

Then look at what he did to that same character later on in SC2...dear lord.

In the past he actually did write some very good characters, on both ends of the spectrum. You had Raynor, Tassadar and Stukov as good characters. Then there were people like Mengsk, Kerrigan and Duran as bad guys. But they were all complex characters and not one sided. ( Kerrigan sparing Mengsk for instance ).

Nowadays he just seems to write most characters as one sided extremists.

With regards to Transformers. Optimus Prime always struck as moronic goodie two shoes, nothing you do with him as a character will ever change that. Megatron was always more interesting...exception being the goddamn Michael Bay movies.

The current transformers ongoing is amazing. Megatron is now an autobot after having publicly denounced the decepticon cause and is on a journey to find the mythical Knights of Cybertron along with a bunch of autobot misfits.

I dunno. Rutgers was sure classless, but Penn State has no moral high ground and get away with crying victim in this. All in all, it just cracks me up.

Heck, I still remember when Pedobear showed up at the Houston-Penn State bowl game.

Personally I think what happened to Penn State was a bit tragic. In the sense I feel all those kids who genuinely worked their asses off to get those wins got spat on by the NCAA ruling.

"Oh but it's about setting a moral standard." The NCAA would talk about moral standards laughable. Mind you I believe those that did cover up the sexual assault should have been arrested and thrown in jail, but to strike down the entire University? That's BS.

Yeah, Football players are the ones that got screwed, but the ones crying about it are the fans. Hey, remember it was the fans that rioted over JoePa getting fired rather rioting over the abuse the kids suffered under Sandusky

Never expect fans to be reasonable people.

With regards to Joe Pa, I don't believe all his wins deserved to be invalidated, although he did deserve a criminal conviction. I find it ridiculous how long it took to get anyone besides Sandusky to court though.

Quick #GG fun.

There have been threads deleted and mass banning against posters about Gamergate. On. 4chan.

Read that again. 4chan is currently censoring discussion and coordination about a gaming controversy. Not the nazis, not the hackers, not the MRA or the racists.

Who in the flying feather threw me through a dimensional gate??
