I think they opened a deportation process against the guy, and there are rumors about the dept of labor starting an inquiry on the place after they said on the show that they withhold all tips from the workers, which is illegal as hell.

The guy conveniently forgot to mention his criminal past when applying for a residence visa. Apparently he has been banned from entering France and Germany, and has a rap sheet that contains financial crimes and extortion.

Glad to be of service!

I love the bit where he does sort of a "FORWARDS, GENTLEMEN" move.

My question, was it really necessary to make one side of the building be all glass?

Seriously, what the hell is wrong with making a building a basic cuboid building full of right angles? Wouldn't that be cheaper?

Never chatted with an architect, have you? :P

(Based on comments from the few I've met, who all came from a particular program at an engineering school, there are apparently a number who are trained to be far closer to 'artist' than functional designer)

I prefer functional architecture over design. I do have an architect in the family and an old acquaintance is also an architect...

Oh yeah, you might find this interesting.

Sounds more like a software glitch, something that causes a dropoff or something with the timing.

The alternative, being moisture causing a misfire would then be a design flaw, and prolly worse to fix instead...

Hadn't heard about that (outside my area, so the grapevine is slow :P) - thanks for the link.

I wish we'd build more buildings inspired by the ancient times and such. "Everyone" thinks they're pretty, but no one seems to consider building newer things in the same style. It's all got to be futuristic and strange.

or worse: they tear down some awesome older places and put the FOTM up, then get sick of it 10 years down the road.

I dunno what's more impressive...the distance it's at or how fast the signals still come back to Earth.
