Hy,

So we setup a normal run to Raggy normal to help out one of the new trials and a raider getting the free mount bug.

6 Officers/Core raiders with average 15 Raggy HC Kills, and 4 guys that nevar have killed raggy.

So after much threats and much bashing as in:
"If we start wipping due to these M&S i will drop off."
"I'm tired of carring guys here."
"I already have done this 20 times in HC... and i won't be wipping in normal due to the noobs don't knowing the tactic"...
You can see that the guild drama setup was completed.

First pull... first seed phase and the RL goes "guys get together for the adds"... (HC tactic)... BAM... 6 Core raiders dead... 4new guys live...

I laugh so much...
An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.

The only people who say the Alliance can be interpreted as evil are people waaay too into their Forsaken and Orc RP. Everything the Alliance has ever done has been in response to the Orcs; even ostracising the Forsaken peoples aren't that outrageous after what happened in the Third War and seeing your country fall to the undead. The Orcs invaded not once, but twice. Whether or not it was under the Legion's control is inconsequential as they always had free will, as was shown by Ner'zhul's choice to deny the Legion prior to the second war, which ended up with him losing his power because the Orcs EMBRACED the Shadow Council and the Legion. If you didn't remember, even before attacking Azeroth, they massacred the Draenei for no reason other than their own bloodlust and territorial disputes.

What did the Orcs do?
They embraced the Legion and the gifts bestowed by the Blood of Mannoroth and started two wars, causing the deaths of many of their own people and the races of Azeroth because of it; which would frame them as evidently dangerous.
If that weren't bad enough they, under the leadership of Grommash, took the Blood of Mannoroth again for no reason other than their lack of diplomacy where they refused to communicate with the Night Elves or give any attempt to other than saying "Blood for blood" after killing ancients and whips. And, to make it worse, it was at a pivitol point in the war which could have caused the Legion to eventually prevail, but ironically made the Legion worse-off when Grommash, empowered by the Blood of Mannoroth, was able to slay Mannoroth using his own gift against him.

What have the Undead done?
Nothing, at first, their intentions were initially pure. Now they force people under the Banshee Queen's control and kill people unrelated to the war efforts that want to maintain neutrality. They use chemical and biological warfare as well as Scourge engines of war to further their own purposes.

What have the Blood Elves done?
They have willingly sacrificed the essence of a Naaru to further their own society after becoming hooked on arcane energies. Their arrogance and faith in an individual who was obviously working for the enemy and made very little effort to hide it caused a Naaru to become tainted and fall under the sway of the Legion.

What have the Trolls/Tauren done?
Absolutely nothing wrong. They are just doing what they feel is best for their people while honoring pacts they made with Thrall, who willingly helped their peoples in their times of need. In fact, the Tauren and Trolls are well known as being the most approachable races of the Horde in the lore; but not all trolls are like the Darkspear.

What have the Humans done?
They have retaliated to two invasions and opted for internment rather than genocidal actions towards the Orcs whom had ravaged their land twice at the behest of demons.
They have turned the Forsaken away, after seeing the Undead sweep across their lands at the behest of the Lich King and caused the downfall of their kingdom.
Humans, Jaina specifically, is reponsible for helping Garrosh regain his sanity so that he could try and thwart Mannoroth.

What have the Dwarves done?
They have helped the Humans as per their long standing alliance.

What have the Night Elves done?
Protected their lands from invaders that would kill their cultural icons and ancestoral spirits and guides indescriminately.

What have the Gnomes done?
Who gives a shit, it's the Gnomes?

TL;DR
What the Alliance has done has been in retaliation to the Horde. The Horde is, quite easily, the "evil" faction currently.

Was probably the best part of the thread so far.

so siding with the high elves and wiping out, nearly, the Amani tribe of trolls was nothing?
oh wait that was before the dark portal and thus not THIS allaince

the take over and subsequent split of barrens, traditionally horde territory, is nothing?
oh wait, that happened after the cataclysm, so it doesnt count either

dwarves...well there is the whole summoning of Ragnaros the first time in MC, but that was the dark irons so i can see that not being part of it, even though 1/3 of the dwarven ruling council is dwrk iron through marriage, and the rightful heir to the bronzebeard, and thus the ironforge, throne is 1/2 dark iron himself

gnomes - honestly i cant think of anything they HAVE done other than the drilling operation in borean tundra

nelfs - druids of the fang ring a bell to anyone?
they were the original worgen, who slaughtered who knows how many

it is funny they mentioned the belfs, but not the draenei...
while the draenei themselves arent "evil" they are racist, and their race, the Erodar, are Sargaras' officers in the burning legion
if you want to say not all trolls are like the darkspear, well not all erodar are like the draenei either

i am an alliance
i may play horde but i still consider my self a proud bronze beard clan member from ironforge, and a proud member of the allaince
but i am not blind enough to look over our own past doings and claim we are squeaky clean

those that think the alliance are the "good guys" need to re-read their lore
that said, Vol'Jin for warchief! (it will probably be Blaine though)

everytime Stephen Fry tweets or retweets a website adress, that site goes down.
today he asked the websites administrator in advance if said site could handle it: the administrator was wrong.

The undead are probably now the most evil of the races, given the use of the plague, and the Tauren the most "clean" of any of the races, with the rest scattered somewhere in the middle. However, as coming events will show, the Horde does have a greater lust for blood.

Reading the Amazon reviews of 50 Shades of Grey, after having something like 3 colleagues tell me that I must read it because it's so amazing!

I think I'll still pass.

My wife read it as part of a book club. After discussing it with her (if I recall the following correctly), she seemed to have 2 things to say: 1) If you'd spent any length of time on the internet, much of the 'racyness' is nullified since some of the main themes are not uncommon. 2) she found a correlation between fans of it and the twilight series... which she also didn't like.

the thing that got me was that there were apparently sequels where the author realized there was no more story to tell, so they added in random stuff.

Shit, I don't want to read that for the mommy-porn part. No interest there. It has to have a good background story to catch my attention.

It's one of the reasons I like Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series (I like the premise), but I think she's a godawful author, and every time I read a book of hers, I want to hang myself (she writes like a 14 year old boy having his first wet dream).

Well it did start out as a Twilight fanfic.

Totally agree with your wife on point #1. I am absolutely astounded (and slightly terrified) by the sheer number of coworkers I have that have read all three books (as I have done) and are quite literally shellshocked by the portrayal of BDSM relationships in the books. To the extent that they professed to me that they knew literally nothing about this type of lifestyle, or that it even really existed. I have always felt that my generation grew up on the internet and that our shock factor was very low (and christ, it's not even like the books are that descriptive or "rough" - most people who partake in SM relationships would likely look at the acts portrayed in the books and laugh about just how soft they are) but it seems that I'm actually the anomaly. Everything in the book was stuff that I'd heard of prior to reading the novel.

The Twilight correlation is, of course, entirely accurate. It was indeed Twilight fan fiction that was removed from the internet a few months before the books were published. When you compare the two, the only real changes to the fan fic from the printed book are the names, purely for copyright reasons. It's really just alternate universe/reality fanfic. (Which I don't have a problem with really - I liked Twilight, but the hilarity is that despite how badly written Twilight may be, it's still miles better than the 50 Shades of Grey series in terms of writing.)

A lot of the reviews surrounding the book are pretty scathing - to the point where they're like "omg, how can women like this? To be made subservient and have no will of your own, etc. etc." To be honest, it's mostly overreaction. This is fiction, after all. You can take as much as you want from it. If you're that impressionable that you think this is the way life should be... well... then... that's your problem. The reason why most women like these novels is that the entire premise of the novel revolves around changing the man to be the way she wants him to be - the sex is just a bonus.

The best review/comment I heard on the books was actually pointing out that does it really matter how good or badly written these books are? If it gets people reading, and gets them open to new ideas about sex and discussing it out in the public, then it's a positive thing. Too many people are so quiet and reserved when it comes to sex (both in talking to others and in the bedroom) that I thought that was a good way to approach the novels.

Annnnd that was a novel I didn't intend to write!

Lol.

Overall, probably one of the best written arguments I've seen (even if it is a bit myopic.)

I'll refrain from arguing against it though, since I don't really keep up with lore.
