Blizzcon predictions?..

Postby halabar » Wed Oct 19, 2011 1:18 pm

So, since it starts tomorrow.. what are the predictions for the next expansion, if they talk about it?

New class, since we got two new races last time? Monk?

New races?..

Looking back at the old supposed leaked list....

Draenor Set

Azuremyst Isle - 1 to 10
Bloodmyrk Isle - 10 to 20

Eversong Forest - 1 to 10
Quel'thalas - 10 to 20
Hellfire Peninsula - 58 to 62
Zangarmarsh - 60 to 64
Terokkar Forest - 61 to 65
The Deadlands - 63 to 67
Nagrand - 64 to 68
Blade's Edge Mountains - 66 to 70
Netherstorm - 67 to 70
Shadowmoon Valley - 69 to 70

Northrend Set

Borean Tundra - 67 to 70
Howling Fjord - 67 to 70
Dragonblight - 69 to 72
Grizzly Hills - 70 to 73
Crystalsong Forest - 72 to 75
Zul'drak - 73 to 76
Sholazar Basin - 75 to 79
Storm Peaks - 76 to 80
Icecrown Glacier - 78 to 80

Maelstrom Set

Gilneas - 77 to 80
Grim Batol - 78 to 81
Kul Tiras - 79 to 82
Kezan - 81 to 86
Tel Abim - 83 to 85
Zandalar - 84 to 87
Plunder Isle - 86 to 88
The Broken Isles - 87 to 90
The Maelstrom - 89 to 90

Plane Set

Pandaria - 1 to 10
Hiji - 10 to 20

Wolfenhold - 1 to 10
Xorothian Plains - 10 to 20

The Green Lands - 88 to 91
The Dying Paradise - 91 to 94
The Emerald Nightmare - 94 to 97
The Eye of Ysera - 97 to 100

Deephome - 88 to 91
Skywall - 91 to 94
The Abyssal Maw - 94 to 97
The Firelands - 97 to 100

Legion Set

K'aresh - 96 to 99
Argus Meadowlands - 97 to 100
Mac'Aree - 99 to 100
Maw of Oblivion - 100+

(I pulled this back from an old post prior to Wrath, so it seems to be holding true, and you can see how they changed things, but not enough that it would invalidate this as an old old plan of theirs)

It would seem that while the BC and Wrath sets were pretty close, Cataclysm yanked from what would have been both the "Emerald Dream" set as well as "The Plane" sets.

With the registration of the "Mists" name, and the holes left, do we get a Pandaria/Dream expansion? maybe with the Maw thrown in as well?

As I recall that list was debunked as being pulled straight from the tabletop RPG manual....

Hmm... never heard that. Perhaps from the lore, the parallels are still there. Many of the Cata zones do show up in the list.

Still, with "Mists.." being registered, you have to wonder what we'll be getting. Since BC was new races, Wrath was a new class (that did fit with the lore), Cata was new races again, what are we likely to see?

Is there a Monk hidden in the lore someplace that they could use?

What other hints that you lore-wonks know about that we might see surface in an announcement tomorrow?

Given that they said explicitly that Pandarens are something they use as a joke and unlikely to be the focus of an expansion, I sincerely doubt that will be an expansion announcement. I wouldn't put it past them to make that a 4.0 patch though

There is no source for the list. It appeared on some alakazam forum or something with the cavet of "I found this on some old hard drive I was throwing away." It was after the announcement of WotLK as the next expansion but before its release. The pathing of the WotLK continent was pretty easy to do using the RPG sourcebook and Blizzard saying "We'll have two starting zones."

As I said before adding new races or classes will likely not happen due to various concerns.

And like I said before I would totally dig an expansionist expansion that uses heavy server wide or character based phasing to show the Alliance and Horde occupying and clearing out a new untamed land after defeating a series of Azeroth shattering villains. I am tired of living in a comic book universe where every villain is after world domination or destruction. Can't we fight some bank robbers?

We live in a society where people born on third base constantly try to steal second, yet we expect people born with two strikes against them to hit a homerun on the first pitch.

I don't think we will see a new class simply because of all the trouble that adding the Death Knights created. Personally I am expecting to see a new profession. But overall I do not think that this expansion will be quite as big as the previous ones in relation to massive changes.

Well, a trademark registration seems a long way to go for a prank. Might get you in trouble with said trademark office.

My guess is still... Pandarian "continent", with panderians as NPCs, similar to the walrus folk, and we'll see parts of the dream.

i still expect a new class, and it will be buffed/nerfed all to hell for the first 6 months of the xpack, due to being unplayable during the beta

I didn't say it was a prank, I said they said it wasn't going to be an expansion. It could be anything else, really.

Patch 4.4 Mists of Pandaria
some halfwit finds a distress note in a bottle from the south seas. Varian and hellscream decide that now that deathwing is dead, they will go and find what is on these islands. Portal to emerald dream, mists are from burning legion presence who have made their way into the dream. we need to recruit the pandaren as allies to unseal the portal the burning legion went through. Introducing event to World of Warcraft: The Emerald Nightmare (Patch 5.0).

I doubt that the Pandaren will ever make it into WoW.
My money is on bringing the game back to the Legion possibly and hopefully taking the fight to Argus at some point giving Blizzard a chance to really expand on the Draenei lore.
I agree with Shamora that I don't think Blizz will add a new class for a long time after the trouble DK's gave them. A new profession is probibly the logical choice for a new feature since we just got new race's.

A new class is also unlikely while we still only have ten character slots in my opinion.

Surely there has to be something about the next expansion soon; with only patch 4.3 to go, how long are we going to be fighting Deathwing while the next one goes through beta? I don't think anyone wants another 12 month run of the same content like ICC.
I don't play WoW any more.
