I was hoping he would sign with the Denver Ponies tbh.

Rumor mill oh rumor mill, how I love the rumor mill in Cleveland Sports.

Indians in talks with FL to trade our backup Catcher Lou Marson (oft injured Backup) for Ricky Nolasco, Miami, Pitcher.

Now, it makes sense for the tribe. Marson, a good catcher just doesn't have a spot on the team anymore. With Yan Gomes proving he's big time ready, and Carlos Santana, He is expendable. But... Why in the world would Miami even ENTERTAIN the idea of trading a starter for a backup who has spent more time on the DL this season than in the dugout?

Oh wait. It's Loria, nothing makes sense.

Crabtree out for a while, possibly season, with torn Achilles. Ouch for the 49ers.

Mr Francona and his new team took his old team out behind the woodshed last night, and gave them a good old fashioned "whoopin" I turned the game off when it was 12 - 3, and the tribe hadn't hit a single home run.

I'm very pleased. Now, if the Rays can do something similar to the Yanks, I'll be good.

The Marlins are responsible for 40% of MLBs attendance decline.

HOLY SHIT!!!

I'm a little nervous that this is going to turn into MLB's version of Bountygate. We'll never hear the end, the players, and league will both take the PR hit, and in the end, the suspensions will be appealed, and significantly reduced.

If MLB is right, and they have them by the balls, my faith might break. I love baseball. But I've never really lovbed it the same since Juiced, and if this happens, it just proves how absolutely behind the times the leagues are at keeping up.

they are, and like I've said before, and been bashed for, I just don't care about testing in the NFL as much, AND I'm quickly losing interest in baseball. If only because we have seen that they all suck at it.

My 16 year old has been watching this with great interest, as he has an "outside chance" at a small college scholarship if he continues to develop as a pitcher (He was hitting low 80's this year as a sophmore, and has a wicked split finger). He is phobic of needles, and drugs. At least that's one thing his mom did right.... I guess it proves the old adage. You are never completely worthless, you can always be used as a bad example.

I think the problem with baseball is that only the 30 last games or so matter...

I've long been a proponent of shortening the baseball season. I'm actually in favor of shortening it by more than what seems rational. Games shouldn't start before may 1st. There are too many teams in bad weather cities (cough cough cleveland cough cough) that end up losing games to snow, and then having to play double headers to make it up.

So, we ditch the 23-27 games in April

Then, we bring the "Fall Classic" back to... Fall. Because again, we have teams in Cold Weather, where the end of October, and November is not good baseball weather.

So let's end the regular On Labor Day. That cuts out 3-4 more weeks of games, so we'll say 25. That puts us somewhere between 48-52 lopped off the season.

We start playoffs the weekend after labor day, giving time for any "play in" games, and teams a chance to get their aces ready.

We can then run the playoffs, and have the World Series back in October.

How is that different from all sports? Only time the last X games don't matter is 1) if you're terrible or 2) you're amazing.

I dunno, I still watch as much football as I can... but then again, there's only 17 regular season games, as opposed to what... 162 baseball games? big difference.

And how often does the last few games of the season determine seeding or even if you make the playoffs? Often enough.

Yeah. I get what you're saying.

What I'm saying is that its much easier to watch 17 games than 162 games, therefore, if I'm gonna watch my favorite baseball team, its gonna be important rivalry games and the month of september -- I don't have the time or patience to watch a 4 hr game between the sox and the rangers, as an example.

That's also one of the problems, the speed of the game... I hate it whenever a baseball player steps out of the batter box after every single pitch! I want to reach thru the screen and kick him on the balls.

But you don't have a problem with the speed of a football game?

Run a play for 3 seconds. While the team waits up to 40 seconds to run another play let's rewatch the previous play 5 times from different angles, oh hey commercial break see you in 3 minutes!

Hockey and Basketball are much better game action per game length than football or baseball, however if you like the "chess match" of pitcher vs batter you'd rank baseball the highest.

Yeah, but a player stepping out of the batter box and adjusting his gloves for 15 secs after every pitch is just excessive. If I could, I'd set a rule that you can only step out of the batter box every other pitch.
