But seriously, the other pally tank (who retired with cata) and me would compete on who would have the highest DPS in the first 2 rooms of ICC, which is how we decided who would be doing the jumping on lootship.
Plague-wing trash was fun for that, too.

My new game in Firelands is to run the mobs in circles away from the melee so they can't attack. That's always fun. If your other tank is playing along he can taunt and beach-ball the mobs around.

Bonus points for doing that on Shannox?
(I hate when I misjudge movement and have to catch up on Shannox, heh. His hitbox should be bigger.)

What is this melee you speak of? Other than the tanks, the only melee in our raid tonight will be my hunter's pet.

When I tanked HM-Shannox alst week I had to do that a little bit. Got to like 6 secs left on 8 stacks and Riplimb was like ~20 yards away with the spear so I said 'see-ya' and took off running with my back to the boss and GanK active.
But I cleared those stacks. and slowly kited him back.

On trash I will aggressively use Bubble as a defensive CD, to clear stacks of debuffs or if I've run out of healer range and need to wait for the rest of the raid to catch up. I am sometimes more judicious about cancelling the Bubble than other times.
This kills the melee.

Why wouldn't you just side strafe as opposed to risking getting a hit in the back?

There are so many damn rocks in the normal Shannox area I was worried about getting caught on one, and with that many seconds I wanted to kite far, like 30 yards because sometimes Riplimb can accelerate the last bit. So I figured GanK would keep me up, and ran. But it was sortof funny, the RL understood what I was doing, but everyone else, lol.

Side strafing is the exact same speed as running straight.

Where do you fight Shannox? If you don't mind going out of order, some people fight him in Alys' room, or Baleroc's room. When we do Shannox first, we use the area just outside the path up to Beth, which is reasonably flat and uncluttered, except for one promontory right next to the road.
Bonus points if your Dog tank accidentally runs off the world, there.

Thats where we do him too, plenty of room, very few rocks, lots of clear spaces and the room to move to a whole new area should you get one spot spammed with traps and need to stay away from it for a bit, never had any issues with anyone getting stuck on rocks there.

fuzzygeek, i want your raid instances then....
we fight him just south of the path to beth, and all teh little tiny rocks end up getting ppl trapped on them, getting traps under them, or just screwing us up somehow....
but we do shannox first so we dont have to worry about dodging him if we wipe to a later boss

Brekkie:Tanks are like shitty DPS. And healers are like REALLY distracted DPS
Amirya:Why yes, your penis is longer than his because you hit 30k dps in the first 10 seconds. But guess what? That raid boss has a dick bigger than your ego.
