Real world map image on armory

Due to another post on here I was looking at the images on my chars armory page.

And I found -

On your armory (on Chrome) right click > Resource tab > world-map.gif (under images).



Does anyone know why there is a world map on the armory and for what purpose it serves?

Edit - It may have been there since the armory was launched.

It's the background for the region/language selection menu in the bottom right.
