decent dinner is suspect. It is basically the food you can buy at your local warehouse club.
Well, yeah... but that applies to most restaurants within 30 miles of Disneyland..
But once we know the night and travel preferences, I can think about a place..

Nikachelle wrote:I did a bit of research... there's an Amtrak train that runs between LA Union station and Anaheim that's only $11 per person and the commute is 39 minutes. This one seemed like a clear winner. The Greyhound bus is about the same price and takes about an hour.
Definitely won't be renting a car for that weekend since it'll just end up sitting in a lot anyway.
We're up for any kind of group meetup - but our knowledge of LA is completely nil. We'll be there from Thursday October 20th (probably around midday) till October 30th, so we're pretty flexible.
NOOO....
Getting to Union Station is a pain from LAX. That's like 30 miles. (LAX is by the ocean).
Best bet if not renting is to hire a SuperShuttle (blue transit vans) that run to various areas. There will be one running to Anaheim, the fare should be about $25-30 (depending on how many are in the van).
There's a House of Blues in Downtown Disney that's a possibility, no idea who's playing that weekend.

Ugh. And I assume greyhound buses leave out of Union station too?

I think there is a station near LAX, but no idea on schedule.
The SuperShuttles pick you up right outside the baggage area at the airport. You walk outside and look for the signs for the transit vans. MUCH MUCH easier to deal with.

Last year there was a blizzcon code that was provided to get your meal for ~$25/person. We went Thursday night before the con started just cause it's fun for the atmosphere. Lots of WoW players and 'For the Horde', etc yelling going on. We enjoyed ourselves (had been there before and knew what to expect, etc).

Just trying to save you a lot of hassle... Getting to Union station, waiting for the train, and then getting to wherever your hotel is will likely cost you just as much, if not more.

Re: Blizzcon 2011
I don't get this about tickets on ebay:
Name(s) of the attendees
Character name
Battle.net account
NO INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS. NO EXCEPTION TO THIS
Why do you need both char name and Bnet account?
Why the international bidder ban? at least from this seller..

Amirya:Why yes, your penis is longer than his because you hit 30k dps in the first 10 seconds. But guess what? That raid boss has a dick bigger than your ego.
Flex:I don't make mistakes. I execute carefully planned strategic group wipes.

Yeah, getting across town is not like other cities with real mass-transit. From the airport you either take a taxi, a hotel van, or one of the transit vans. Only the german tourists that read travel guides come over expecting to use mass transit, and then they are lost in downtown at 11pm because they missed the last bus...
Now for a travel tip.. if you are staying the week, you might want to take the Amtrak down to San Diego, and spend a day or two, see Sea World and Balboa Park (tons of museums there, better than LA, and they are all in one place). Amtrak is a good solution for that.

Re: Blizzcon 2011
Of course, it should be an interesting Blizzcon...
"We've always said October 21 was the day," Camping said during his show. "The only thing we didn't understand was the spirituality of May 21. We're seeing this as a spiritual thing happening rather than a physical thing happening. The timing, the structure, the proofs, none of that has changed at all."
