The other setbacks were obviously just mere setbacks! This time for real!

Wait... what?

From the latest data-mined PTR (not official)

Holy Shield: Using Shield of the Righteous or Inquisition increases your chance to block melee attacks by 5% for 20 sec.

If that's true, wtf. People are almost block-capped now in raid gear, what does another 5% do, not to mention the 10% increased damage from melee hits....

I hope that's a typo/bad tooltip

Doesn't it mean that it will be easyer to achive Block cap and put more points into dodge/parry so we get melee'd for more but can dodge and parry more?

And I didn't realize that BM was so overpowered that they needed the nerf (slight that it is) to pet damage. Blizz just chased me more into reforging all mastery into crit or haste. wtf Blizz, nerf the spec that's already underperforming? Blizz does hate BM.

Time to consider making my Shammy my main.

maybe they are changing the damage reduced by blocks, those changes also list a change to the block value meta gem

Eternal Shadowspirit Diamond now increases Shield Block Value by 3%, up from 1%.

As for the BM mastery change...mastery already is the bottom of the pile stat for BMs, so it will become even less attractive. PLus that change will make KC do something like 24600 damage instead of 25000, not really that big a deal

It's probably because of this: (just datamined on MMO)

Holy Shield now increases chances to block by 5%, down from 10%.

Looks like they never want us using WoG to heal ourselves...

how does changing our chance to block change our WoG usage?

Basically, Blizz HATES pets doing significant damage. GC has said in the past that pets shouldn't be doing 40% of damage, and BM is at 45% or so right now. So.. reforge away all mastery.. dump gear with mastery in favor of hit/crit/haste gear, or see if I can find a competitive SV mash macro... (I know MM's proc based rotation will never work with a macro effectively, but SV's might).

The holy shield change alone is

1)A big nerf. We trade ~60*10% (considering you have 60% block with a good gear) against 5*30%. It's like on a total of 100 strikes trading 6 hit we don't take vs 1,5 hit. It's really really huge

2)Studid. Considering that we will be block caped in fireland the new holy shield buff would be completely useless

I hope this is a bug cause if it is not it only deserve an epic facepalm

did some quick napkin math.
Assuming 25% dodge/parry/miss 55% block

40% dr
53% post armor damage taken

30% dr +5% chance
57% post armor damage taken

so I'm seeing a 7.5% increase in damage taken. That it quite a lot, somehow I think there is more to the story then just this.
