so it IS a mage set then :)

I miss class related sets, why do we have to look like our armour was made of bits of enemies that have been stitched/welded together?

Oh, more contrarian time!

While ultimately I am indifferent towards the inspiration for the set design I lean towards being inspired from the zone from which it comes with thematic nods to the class. Rogues should look like an NPC for infiltration, hunters should look like a creature fitting the zone, etc.

Just a quick glance shows a lot in common with the priest set but with a much harder looking edge in the helm/shoulder area. So at first glance the design appears to mix the history of what the paladin class is in WoW.

Except the chest and legs look like a cloth robe.

Chest piece looks like a shaped plate with cloth under it. I want skimpy plate for my male paladin, why do chicks get all the fun!? Remove the cloth design!

Have to say that when I saw the preview for the first time I honestly thought it had been mislabled. It doesn't look like plate at all. Wonder how far I can get with offset pieces and pvp gear...

I like it, except for the helm. My biggest problem with it is that now my tabard of the argent dawn will now have the lower half cut off for the next tier of raiding

It's not cut off, it's just tucked into your skirt

We've seen skirts on our tier often enough we can probably all pass it off, the main issue this time is that the hood and chest combined with the skirt make the whole outfit look very cloth-y. Looking at it again, I think if they replaced the texture of the area between the big V and the belt with something that looked like metal rather than cloth, it would make a huge difference.
I don't play WoW any more.
