According to Wowhead, it seems you do have to mount the drake once before you get the increased flight speed.

since I don't have the achievement, I can confirm that what you see here is what shows on my screen, right now, 4.1.

I didn't realize that that gave you master riding as well, but the rest of my post still stands.

now that we know what you meant, yes it does
once you learn VPD, EVERY mount is 310%
even that slowass gryphon/wind rider you learned at 70/60 (depending on when you leveled)

Supposed to have been fixed in mini-patch today. (4.0.1A)


Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue that sometimes caused player to disconnect when zoning into another location.
The title Blackwing's Bane awarded for defeating Nefarian on Heroic difficulty is now selectable again by characters who have earned it.
The targeting reticule should no longer disappear when players cast spells.
Resolved some issues that were causing Movement Enforcement Errors.
Resolved an issue affecting death knight runes after switching specializations.
Party member positions should show up correctly when in dungeons.
Animations while mounted should work normally again.
NPCs should no longer be floating... unless they're meant to float.
Character legs should move properly when the character is moving.
Players using a single client to connect to multiple regions should be able to do so again.

god that mounted thing was driving me nuts.

Felt like everytime I had to mount up in TB I was putting a quarter into the mechanical rocking horsey out front of my local K-Mart.

Beer Goggles reapply their affect during inappropriate auction-house events as of 4.1. For example, they don't when I loot canceled auctions from the mail box, but they do when I take money from successful auctions.

This means I get the sound and the glowing star on every humanoid nearby for every message. It's rather annoying.

(No, I'm not going to take them off. My druid / banker is level 75 and has used beer goggles exclusively for headgear since level 15 or so. It's much easier to see NPCs when everyone else is a gnome.)
