What you're not realising is that for the rest of the season all the sets will be made from painted cardboard.

The Doctor Who prop designers managed to scare a an entire generation with Daleks made of steel trash cans and kitchen/bathroom cleaning equipment...

The ammount of QQ going on facebook is quite amusing...I have to say.

"omg...I can't believe the producer allowed it to happen?"
"You mean...the producer who is generally following the books to make the tv series?"
"Producer should have changed it!"

They did change it - they made it worse!

The whole event has a bigger impact on TV even than the books, since Robb was a more prominent character on the show (in the books, he only appeared in Catelyn's chapters, and mostly did things off page). And they put Robb's wife (I forget her name on the show) in the wedding, which is a big departure from the books and led to a much more disturbing image being shown.

I'm actually wondering now what they'll do in future seasons following the changes (minor 4th book spoilers):

When Jaime goes to break the siege at Riverrun, Brynden the Blackfish holds the keep against Lannister forces, and he's doing it to protect Queen Jeyne. Both the Blackfish and the show's Jeyne substitute were at the wedding on GoT - though I didn't see Brynden killed, he'd still be a prisoner if not.

In the books they also killed of a bunch of minor characters that weren't introduced on the show. Dacey Mormont, Wendel Manderly, the Smalljon and more - minor, yes, but still people you'd gotten to know a bit, and that meant something to other characters. They didn't have the time to put those into the show so they used Talisa's baby as a shorthand for it. I think it was a slightly cheap way to up the shock value, but it's not feasibly to do it by the book so it works all right.

I really love RedWeddingTears :) Does that make me a bad person?

Yeah, they could have kept the Greatjon in the scene, to have more ot identify with, but the actor playing Greatjon Umber left after season one because of a schedule conflict and they chose to just drop the character. I would've liked to see him and whichever one of the Manderlys it was in the books be there.

But this isn't so much about body count as how it's done: they deliberately had Robb's wife introduced, made her pregnant, and then get stabbed in the womb at the wedding. They set it up to be more brutal than just murder. In the books you had Catelyn seeing her last son die in front of her; in the show you have that after Robb sees his wife and child die.

By the way, I hope the show keeps Wyman Manderly and his meat pies. It instantly makes him one of the most badass characters in the books.

They had an extra in there with the Manderly sigil and named "Wendel Manderly" in the cast list.

Pretty good indicator that the Meat Pies are still in!

Spoiler:
It's interesting how Manderly killing Freys, serving them to their kin and eating himself is perfectly fine - because unlike the Rat Cook the Freys were not his kin. The Freys, however, are doomed for the Red Wedding - not for the massacre itself, but because they broke guest right. Westerosi morals are weird.

Can't we get some spoiler tags or something for the forum?

Matthew Iglesias on why Walder Frey's actions aren't really a betrayal, but cold logic. And why Roose Bolton is the real bad guy here:

It's a thing of beauty, the "I'MA CANCEL HBO!" ones are some of the funniest for me.

Out of curiosity (as I don't watch the show), can someone tell me what happened and why so much rage/disappointment around?
(white it in small characters for spoilers maybe :P )
