Wha.. NO !
Seriously, I can't remember the last time someone asked me for gold. Maybe a few years ago. I'm not sure.
Maybe I'm too scary and they don't dare to ask me.
Also I rarely just hang out in cities. If I don't have something to do I log off. I guess that's a more likely explanation.

People don't ask directly, I find. They're usually yelling it in Stormwind for whoever will listen.

Tell them they got lucky, I'm quitting game, open trade, put 500g.. then type "!"$£! Lag" then afk 10 mins.
I will adapt this method to include the hilarious beggar-kiting described above.

I always give money to beggars, however, I give it to them 1 copper at a time. Hey, I only have copper pieces on me. Sorry. xD

Unless it's changed, you can type in any amount of money you want. You don't actually have to have that much money.

If I had a passenger flying mount, I'd fly to a high level zone, far away, high in the sky, and go afk. That way, they can't just hearth
Of course, the way I actually deal with beggars is by not responding at all.

This is my method. You also avoid accidentally sending someone that you were trolling all of your cash, b/c the trade wont complete if it's more gold than you have. I have actually only done this once, to someone who's response to "go quest for it" didn't agree with me.

I don't know about the X-52, but with a Vial of the Sands your passenger is giving a parachute. It lasts a really really long time so I'm not sure you could kill someone that way. My wife will be wearing the parachute for more than a minute after she hits the ground sometimes.
Of course the beggar might not know they'll get a parachute.

Dropping them off in Tarren Mill used to also be effective
Unfortunately most of the beggars on my server these days tend to be new toons rolled by experienced players who are 'too lazy' to quest or gather, yet they'll run around SW for 2 hours or more begging people for gold. I don't see the sense in being lvl 10 forever, but that's just me.

Re: How do you handle beggars?
The scourge event was the best way to deal with beggers.
Beggar: Can I have sum gold 4 a mount plz?
Me: Sure stay right there. *Goes kills a roach*
Beggar: Can I have sum gold now?
Me: Hold on... *Bubbles, auto-turns into a zombie an infects the beggar.*
Beggar: *Tries to run but turns in to a zombie and everyone destroys him.*
Everyone else: /cheer
You know the scourge event is also the place where I chased down greifers and cleansed them. And told a person to fuck off in vent as she complained about me ruining people's fun.
Good times... good times.

As far as multi-person mounts... my hog gives a parachute when someone is ejected...
Also.. Scourge Invasion (IMO) is the best pre-event blizz has done. I spent as much time killing zombies as I did converting people (I was a rogue, so the switch could happen quite a bit.) It was also kind of fun because when you were a zombie, you could actually converse cross faction
