I am casual when it comes to the quantity, but not the quality of the raiding...

even when i was running weekly ICC10 pugs, i made sure i not only had strats for everyboss in my head, all the flasks/feasts i would need
and knew when to push ppl and when to say screw it were not going anywhere tonight

when i do raid, i am hardcore
but with college, im lucky to even do a regular or 2 a night, much less heroics or even try to raid

I think a vast number of the quasi-semi-casual-hardcores can be summed up with what I now call "elitist casual". The symptoms of "elitist casual" are...

Statistics also skew things around. Especially out of heroic mode, most fundamental tactics (like getting out of the Fire® or controlling the mobs' output) can be perfected by the second or third attempt, if not right from the start. They are easy...to us.

As large as communities like Maintankadin/Spot/Jerks are, they do not contain the majority of the players. Communities dedicated to the Quality Gaming® attract people interested in, well, being good at what they do. If you ask here, most things can't really be called Hard once they're figured out. Once your sample size includes the players that Just Don't Care®, everything suddenly seems hard and worth of hardcores.
