[sarcasm] Request! [/sarcasm]
How hard would it be to add an option to offset text on these forums for sarcasm similarly to how [quote] works? I know a big issue on some forums, not necessarily here because we kinda know everyones' tendencies, is confusing sarcasm with being serious.

That sounds like a fantastic suggestion.
(How did I do?)
In seriousness, I don't really see the point of making it an actual tag. If you really worry about someone taking sarcasm as truth, just do what you did in your topic title there.

Because we all know people can take an obvious hint.
It's like marking skull in a dungeon. Yeah, it's plain as day but some people just don't take the hint. Besides, it's just another option. It wouldn't hurt to throw it out there for people to use if they'd like to add some clarity to their posts.

I guess it's just that I can't even envision how that would work. You'd have a block of text, and then...
And then more text?
SARCASM:
Hey I'm being sarcastic here
And then more text?

Good news!!
The feature to prominently display sarcasm has already been implemented! And, in a remarkable breakthrough, it's actually even easier than typing [sarcasm][/sarcasm] in tag form!!
To use this feature, simply add the following to your posts:
(sarcasm)
(ironic sarcasm)

Lucky for me, that's not my job to figure out. Though, I imagine with a direct interpretation of my description it'd be more like:
"So I went to the bagel store yesterday and all they had was everything bagels.
Realistically, though, maybe it could just a special colored text or flashing rainbow colored text or something. I don't know. Who's the webmaster that's supposed to think these things up?

Goins2754 is being sarcastic:
And you all know how much I love everything bagels."

I think this is a great idea.
No, really.
This is better than some MS Paint tank driving away from a Lich King Helmet...

You know, the irony of this is that if my OP was being sarcastic then it proves its own point because you guys didn't get the sarcasm.
However, if it proves its own point then the sarcasm of the OP isn't really sarcasm.
Such a paradox.

This reminds me of a proposal I saw a few years ago to add additional forms of punctuation to better communicate subtle nuances of body language into text form. The idea didn't really get anywhere though.

This thread is really really dumb.
And please note that I did not use sarcasm tags.
