Our guild has always collected and sold anything that wasn't usable for main specs. Same goes for massively overstocked gems, patterns, etc. Something has to fuel the "repair from guild funds" option...

255 characters is not enough to fit my alts' armories in.

we don't have a repair from guild option... or the option to buy from guild bank... the prot boots were looted and nothings been said about them since and i honestly think they're going to the person who looted them's alt. Would have been a nice main spec upgrade for quite a few people. Deciding what to do because a lot of friends are in this guild.

It comes down to this... if your raid leader is taking BoE epics for the guild bank/ to sell - then there should be an option to repair from guild bank...
In our guild... there isn't really drama about this... most of the guild bank funding came from selling BT loot in TBC when everyone had everything they wanted...

Loot is given out loot council, food is provided by people with cooking throwing food in the bank, and a food tab being opened on raid nights...

the tabs are kept closed normally, including the option to repair from the bank, and are only opened on raid days... but on the other hand... every time the guild got a legendary... every main raider got a nice present in their mailbox (2k gold or so)

Also, guild bank funds are used for things like buying rare patterns that are upgrades for raiders...

IMO - this is a great way for it to work... seems good to me
