Hmm, I've no way of knowing if it was dumb luck or not on my side. I did catch the croc every time (as you do anymore with the daily) but i closed the loot window and kept fishing. My 4th cast was croc + crafty. How many times did you cast/catch crocs?
I just caught the croc on the first try and kept it. I've never had to cast more than once for Crafty in Org, so I guess I just assumed. It still might be worth checking out.

If you really really think about it for a while.
You take a quest, wich requires you to catch an item in Orgrimmar/Stormwind.
The quest is bugged and somehow increases the "droprate" of another item, old crafty, wich can only be catched in orgrimmar.
Would this work in Ironforge? No, since the quest has nothing to do with ironforge nor the fish in there.
That's just logically thinking, go ahead and try it. Though I'm pretty confident that it won't work.

Errr wrong.
You CAN fish up the crocolisk from Ironforge.

OK, that's your problem I believe. You will catch the croc, but you need to not loot it/close the loot window (hence, autoloot off). Keep fishing. Got a friend her fish this way, so I believe it is not just dumb luck.

Re: the Crocolisk quest and Old Crafty.
Snuck into Orgrimmar yesterday when it was Crocolisk day, and within 3 casts, had caught Old Crafty. Another guildy saw me get the achievement and asked how I did it. She was leveling her fishing and wasn't high enough to get the quest, but was lev 70, so snuck in the same way I did.
However, while I was waiting for her to arrive, using the same Crocolisk method, I caught a SECOND Old Crafty.
Two Old Craftys within 10 casts indicates to me there's something to the method.
However, it hasn't worked in Ironforge yet...

Well, Blizzard has apparently stated it's NOT a bug...and you CAN fish up the Crocolisk in IF...so maybe it works for Horde the other way around as well. I don't have a Horde toon high enough to check...
