I found it easiest to level cooking by using the fish I caught while leveling fishing.
Ironjaw: ~700+
Crafty: First time, ~20, but I didn't hit ok. Second time, ~230.

This post inspired me to level my fishing. I've been sitting at 200 for a long time, because i didn't want to do the quest to get above 225. Now I've started grinding it out. Soooooooo boring. Any tips on making it easier?

After catching Old Crafty and Mr Pinchy last night IF is next on the agenda.
500 fish you say. Ouch.
Nah, the first cast thing for Old Crafty must be random. Did the crokolisk quest twice in the past 2 weeks and never saw Old Crafty. Took about 70-80 casts last night to get him. On the plus side I did get to mash an ally rogue that thought I couldn't see him fishing behind a tree in Ogrimmar.
Somebody else on WoWhead said the same thing, though. I dunno what it was. Just seems pretty crazy that I'd catch him on very first cast after the patch.
On my server it was broadcast to make a raid group and get the fishing daily ( I don't recall if it specified the baby croc one) and fish. I got crafty in two casts.

No raid group necessary, as far as I know.
I rule.

Got the one in Orgri at 4th cast.
Can't be asked to go back to IF, last try I had two moronic hunters camping me for over an hour, and there is no safe spot against an hunter that run the city with the tracker on -.-'

Theres a glitch...
get the fishing daily to get the crocs in the city, go to org.. start fishing
DO NOT PICK UP A CROCODILE...
as long as u have that daily and dont have a croc, ur chances of fishing old crafty are increased by near 90%.
took me 3 casts, my friend 1, a guildy 2 and a random person 2.

This worked for me, I caught old crafty in Ogrimmar after 4 casts (make sure not to loot the croc, and just keep fishing, turn off autoloot!).
I don't know if this will help with ironjaw in ironforge since you can't catch the croc's there...
edit:
(if only I'd know this 2,000 casts earlier)

I actually tried this, and I DID catch the croc, but did NOT catch Ironjaw.

Hmm, I've no way of knowing if it was dumb luck or not on my side. I did catch the croc every time (as you do anymore with the daily) but i closed the loot window and kept fishing. My 4th cast was croc + crafty. How many times did you cast/catch crocs?
