How many tanks does your guild use?

I'm not sure if there's already a topic for this, but I couldn't find one at least easily. One thing I was wondering is how many tanks of each type do guilds in general go with. Of course you can't really expect to find the typical results here, but though it might still be somewhat interesting to see what kind of setups people go with. My guild has 3 protection warriors and 2 ferals in our roster, but occasionally we have 1 feral as resto spec, because our resto druid has been away and in some fights you really just want 2 restos. We usually have 1 prot warrior sitting out most times, and sometimes if we need one more tank for some trash pulls the dps warrior in raid has to tank. The warriors MT most bosses, except bosses which need several tanks where we usually have 1 feral there, and certain other bosses like Azgalor and Mother Shahraz which we feel benefit from using a feral MT in some way. Unfortunately our setup doesn't leave much space for protection paladin atm.

We have four primary tanks: 2 prot warriors and 2 prot paladins.

Tank squad: 2 prot warriors, 1 prot paladin and one feral druid. Then a further prot warrior who mostly only attends Hydross kills because of RL commitments.

Backup: 2 dps warriors, 1 "dps" feral.

Obviously, we don't use all of us on every raid. We aren't a hardcore guild and we use who is online.

Typically, we'll do:

Sometimes the ferals or I will heal. Sometimes the ferals with dps. Usually the Feral Warrior fills a rogue spot, but for a fight like Magtheridon, he'll tank the first channeler.

2 warriors, one paladin, and one druid. We killed Vashj with one of each when we had a warrior reroll, but have been using that again since. We also have 2 arms warriors that sometimes have to tank (Hyjal trash).

Last night we did attumen thru curator with only me tanking. Moroes was exciting, I had to tank 2 adds and keep blessing of sacrifice on a hunter pet to break gouges, but we got lucky and the second garrotte went to me. One add was shackled, one was hunter trapped, and the first kill target was dpsed down and stunlocked without a tank. One shot every boss except big bad wolf.

This was more exciting than usual because our normal holy priest was shadow so I was being healed by a paladin and druid in relatively poor gear, i think they were both around 1200 +healing. It was fun though


I realize that's not really the answer the thread is looking for though. We have 1 prot warrior and 1 prot paladin atm, and 2 feral druids although they are sorta both alts. I'd like to recruit another prot warrior and paladin, and see my RL friend's dps warrior and feral druid level up to 70. But we are just a karazhan guild for now, wtb more people to move on to 25 man stuff.
