We really need more info about you, your fellow raiders, your focus (Progression, sure, but aiming for server first's? own pace? "One of the top guilds" on the server?), and whether you want a comedic or serious name. The nature of the guild name does affect the type of applicants you get and the environment your guild fosters.

PvE,

Central US time zone

both

preferably progression hardcore

serious

Damn I fail at reading every post. Okay.

Zx, you want the tone of the guild to be all business, or do you want goofy characters, or what?

Some of my personal favorites:
<Adaptation> - was the name I used for the guild I founded, since boss strategies break down sometimes and need to be adapted on the fly.

<Vanguard> - the vanguard, in battle terms, is a formation at the head of an army, leading the way. If you're going for hardcore progression and competing for top billing, Vanguard really conveys that image.

If I think of others I'll post again, those are my 2 favorites.

I wish you could do
<Maybe if this guild name is witty enough, somebody will love me>
But it's too long.

<I don't think this'll fit>
<Fan Boi> (you'd have to be *really* good to pull off some of the random names in this thread)

I don't like suggesting previous guild names tbh. It'd detract from what his guild does and/or confuse people.

<Mario Kart Blue Shell> IMO
^ Nothing in life is certain except for death, taxes, and that blue fucking shell from Mario kart

<Dyslexic Riaders> (intended spelling on Raiders)
<iLu>
<I'm up there>
<No no go lower>
<Praetorian Guard> (name from an alliance I played with against in another game. They were previously named KAOS, Kill Anything On Sight. We were Imperial Dreams, then Shinsengumi, Discordia. After which I ended up in Renegades).

<Rainbow Phoenix Friends> (once again, it's badass to be lame ^.^)

I've been thinking of going with pretty pretty ponies but I think that would attract the wrong sort of player.

For names that project a serious raiding progression focus, it's hard to go wrong with a single word guild name. Latin names may be a bit cliche, but here are some examples of what I'm talking about:

<Remnant>
<Remembrance>
<Infamy>
<Lunacy>
<Blindness>
<Bulwark>

On the other hand, I find that "title" guild names end up coming across less impressive than they intend. Things to avoid:

Knights of _______
Defenders of _______
Order of ________
________ of the Alliance
________ of Azeroth

Of course, there are many other name styles that work besides the initial one I mentioned, but if you're uncertain, it's one of your safer bets.

Quiquid latin dictum sid videtur is the perfect latin guild name. Just wish it'd fit.

For one word ones I'm thinking:

<Exiles>
<Arcana>
<Vanguard>

Also like

<Force Fait Loi>, might makes right
and
<Qui Vivra Verra>, he who lives will see
