Tankadin acceptability survey!

So far, IME, Tankadins are widely accepted on Area 52 for 5 mans/heroics. I'm only running normal 5 mans now but often get random tells asking me to tank heroics as well. I know in alot of cases pugs ask for or prefer pallies to tank but it seems like a adequate pally tank can make up for even the worse dps players in situations where its just a plain nightmare for other tank classes.

On my server (dreadmaul) pallys get alot of Love for heroics and 10 mans because you don't need CC and we make runs twice as fast when geared

Malorne won't discriminate against you if you tank as a Paladin, but try to dps as a Shaman and the flaming crosses start to appear.

My main is a T4 geared Enhancement Shaman, and I get NO love in heroics. That is one of the major reason I rolled a tankadin.

As far as acceptance on Thunderhorn, I have no problems at all. I wouldn't say that people prefer tankadins overall, but I am readily accepted as a tank, whatever I am doing.

Its kinda hard to tell to be honest.
I mean, Prot pallys are easily the tank of choice for pugs, but thats only because most pugs are for 5/10mans, and pallys are easily the best tanks for them.

As for 25mans, i'm not really sure what the high end guilds think - My guild likes them, even though we have a few nub holy rerolls (one bought the 75 badge WARRIOR legs, and put spellthread on it :S ), but it may be because one of our raid leaders is a prot pally.
That said, i cant talk for other guilds which have progressed further (we're around t5 ish)

For instances/heroics it's pretty even, although you get the occasional people that think pally tanks are a joke.

ZA is 50/50.. some people refuse to take pallies.

So true. In heroics and 10-mans, people love the pally tank. In 25-mans, we tank murlocs.

Yep, and that's why this "survey"'s (a one question poll =/= a survey) doomed to failure from the outset. The amount of Tankadins doing 5-10 man content is much greater than those doing 25-man content. Ironically, it's the ones in the 25-mans who are having the most problems with acceptance.

That's not ironic, it's causality There are fewer raiders because they have more problems with acceptance.

The folks I've played with directly have been really good about tankadins, but few others were. Particularly on Tichondrius alliance side the vibe I get is that paladins have no respect at all for 25-mans there. It's unfortunate, and WotLK may change their minds but not their hearts.

My view on Emerald Dream (EU) is "Some people like tankadins but many people still prefer warrior tanks"

Thats mostly in everything, only raid that people WANT paladins is Zul Aman, because their to lazy to watch their treath during AoE sessions
