Consecration

Postby Strom » Wed Jul 16, 2008 9:34 am

The other post in this forum got me thinking. I would re-design it into 2 spells that share a cooldown.

Consecrate Ground

Basically what we have now

Consecrate Weapon

Applies a buff on our weapon for that will put an 8 sec DoT on our target. The damage done would be higher than Consecrate Ground due to it only affecting one target. The buff expires once we hit a target and they gain the debuff.

It would be great for tanking when CC is used around us, plus it could give us a little more threat on tanking bosses.

Basically this would give us a little more control over our threat since Consecrate is a large part of it.

I think the #1 reason this isn't considered an option is because it's basically a Shaman weapon imbue. The second aspect of the idea, the depositing of a debuff... well, that's Seal of the Crusader, ain't it?

I like the idea of having an instant DoT. Not *instead* of Consecration though.

More or less this.
It makes a lot of sense, though. I'd gladly trade an aoe for a single target dot for the specific situation of heavy CCs and only 1 target to be tanked.
Part of it may or may not be changed though, one of the rumors is that consecration won't break damage-sensitive CC anymore.

I'd assume they took away the "chance" aspect and now have it stack up on every melee hit. I've not heard that it was fixed, in the process of being fixed, or what have you. I adore it though, and use it between Righteousness.

Is this a theoretical "fix"?

Uh ... Did you ever use SoV before that mechanic was added? When it was /just/ the DoT, and peanuts on the judgement?

SoV is still pretty awful for stacking reasons.

9 seconds w/out a proc and my stack fell off on felmyst P1 /cry

Just a general feel I've gotten from playing around with my SoV spreadsheets - I think Vengeance is going to benefit nicely from us getting melee hit and spell hit off our +hit gear. There will still be people who are traumatized from that one time they went twelve seconds without a proc and vow to never use it again, but the long-term performance will be stronger.

21-point talent:
Implacable Vengeance
The duration of your Holy Vengeance is increased by three seconds, and the stack limit is increased to six.

There would have to be a part II to this talent to make it useful to blood elves, but my bloodie is level 26 so I know zilch about SoB except that it makes alliance retadins cry theirselves to sleep.
