Do they know what that means though?
An Anglophone is someone who speaks the English language. As an adjective, it refers to belonging to an English-speaking population especially in a country where two or more languages are spoken. A related term, the Anglosphere, refers to the group of countries that mainly speak English.
Whereas Francophone is someone whose native tongue is French. Oddly enough, there's a third term ... Allophone. This refers to pretty much anyone else who doesn't speak English or French.
Look up the meaning on wikipedia. You'll be surprised.

Hehe.
You'd be insulting the French members of this board... People like to call me French-Canadian because I reside in Quebec ... But I was born of an Irish/Scottish mother, and an Italian father.
So ... no French in me whatsowhomever!

I don't believe for a second you're a Francophone then. I'm from Belgium, and all the Francophones I have dealt with KNOW they are insulted, have never had any qualms about letting the rest of the world know they are insulted and following that up with a few choice insulting things themselves
Nofi of cours.
BTW: the God phone above, wouldn't that be an allophone, as it's clearly for "american" speakers. (Also j/k).
Oh dear, now I went and pissed of both the americans and the french. I wonder whether they'll agree long enough to come kick my belgian butt?
